Does anyone here have experience sanding the bumps out of cast iron cookware?

Yes. I used sanding discs on a cordless drill, starting with a course grit, and then finer grits. I felt it was a reasonably quick and easy process, and have used it on 3 or 4 frying pans, a dutch oven, and a griddle.

Not all western Doctors are living through it.

It actually is Asterix. I'm surprised that I knew because I don't think it is well known outside of France.

"Asterix or The Adventures of Asterix (French: Astérix or Astérix le Gaulois [asteʁiks lə ɡolwa]) is a series of French comics about Gaulish warriors, who have adventures and fight the Roman Empire during the era of Julius Caesar," according to Wikipedia.

I am amazed at the comments about giving credit. I have seen Humorous photos such as this posted by many members for years and I almost never see credits given. I would hate to see rules take over requiring credit when it probably is impossible to determine where it originally came from. It was certainly obvious to me that it had been reposted from some social media site. After all, this is General Chit-Chat and not where we normally post photos that we have taken unless for a non-photographic topic. In fact, I saw two others today that did not give credit. Where were all you complainers for those posts?

This almanac was published by International Harvester Company. They manufacture farm equipment. I remember using some of their tractors while I was growing up. I am a freelance writer and would be very interested in writing about the almanac.

Just a couple of comments.

I teach English as a Second language online along with public speaking and business lessons and I often find my foreign students are much better at spelling and grammar than many of my fellow native citizens. I often only need to help them with confidence, pronunciation, and accent reduction.

Fortunately, most of my American students for the law or business classes do have decent spelling and grammar skills but a few of them make me worry about their future employment or business prospects.

I have even received employment applications from high school graduates misspelling the name of the town they lived in, the color fo their hair, and many other horrifying mistakes.

I have always liked this song and it sounded good but I quickly went to Youtube to listen to the original. To me, this version does not have the emotion --- the original is much, much better.

Actually, this post is political. That is obviously a political BS detector. You can even see the two primary detectors -- one for the right and one for the left. LOL

I always enjoyed flying in them and jumping out of them. And after watching Puff, I would definitely call them badass.

This is why so many people are retiring or just moving to other countries. Healthcare costs are astronomical even if you have insurance and for the uninsured, it is a complete disaster. A lot of telecommuters find medical care, insurance, and the cost of living can be slashed by living out of the US or Canada or the UK. I am in Mexico now and have met US physicians who have moved here to get away from insurance companies and attorneys. They have also indicated that the medical care here is great.

Typically, I take my family to one of the doctors affiliated with the local pharmacies. The doctor's visit costs between $2 to $2.50. The first time I went to one of these offices, it was for an eye infection. The doctor insisted on almost a complete physical before prescribing medication. I have to admit it was the best medical care that I have ever received.

If you would like to know more about living in other countries, you can visit https://bestplacesintheworldtoretire.com. Lots of great information there -- but a quick disclosure. I am an unpaid contributor to the site.

You might try checking out this website: bestplacesintheworldtoretire.com.

It has a lot of questions answered by expats in various countries including Portugal. The questions are included in these topics: Cost of Living, Safety, Healthcare, Lifestyle & Retirement, History & Culture, Things To Do & Attractions, Shopping & Restaurants, Transportation, Climate, Natural Disasters, Geography. Real Estate, Renting a Home or Apartment, Moving to Portugal, Political System, Government, Taxes & Compliance.

You can also submit questions and there are also names and contact information for some of the expats that have answered questions. I personally answer questions and write stories about living in and visiting Mexico.

I am another will never donate to the Red Cross. When I was in the Army and my grandmother died, i needed authorization to return to my home for the funeral. The Army wanted a letter from the Red Cross but the stupid bureaucrats (many of them are not volunteers and make great salaries) would not help. Fortunately I was able to get assistance from our Senator and returned for the funeral. When I told of all the problems, my Dad and others told similar stories of being let down by the Red Cross during WWII.

They are definitely at the bottom of my list of charities.

I also looked at Charity Navigator. The Red Cross only gets an overall score of 85.01 and their leader is paid $562,364. Tow organizations that Charity Navigator lists with similar activities are Lions Club International with a rating of 94.02 and a salary of $137,313 for their leader and Convoy of hope with a rating of 94.69 and a salary of 214,885 for their leader..

I personally donate to Kiva which helps people with a "hand up" instead of a hand out". Their score is 97.06 and a salary of $193,356 for their leader. If you are interested in learning more about a great organization, check them out at this link: https://www.kiva.org/invitedby/gary79718539.
