I have owned a P950 for a couple of years and am very happy with it. I purchased it as a small, light camera that I can keep with me all the time for those unexpected nature photography opportunities that I encounter in my day-to-day activities. The wide angle to 2000mm equivalent lens & camera RAW features make it an ideal camera for family activities and social events. The noise performance above 800 ISO was a little disappointing but Topaz Noise AI takes care of that. For serious nature photography I have a Canon EOS R7 body several EF & RF lenses. However, the P950 certainly meets my expectations! Here are a few examples of photos taken with the P950 recently.

First time I have seen a Hummingbird nest. It was high in a tree and not visible to the naked eye. Taken with a Canon R7 and a Canon RF 800mm f11 lens at 1/640 & ISO 3200.

Perhaps we need to look at the iMac computers that have the problem & those that do not. Some Mac’s can not run the latest MacOS because of older hardware, etc.

I suspect you shoot jpg images. If so, the Adobe Photography Plan will allow you to easily migrate to shooting RAW which is a much more flexible and effective format to fine tune your images. For most post processing, Lightroom is the only program you will need and there are a lot of “on line” tutorials that will help you get up to speed in no time.

If weight is an issue but you need longer lenses for bird photography, you might consider a Nikon P950 bridge camera. It has a 16MP sensor and a built in zoom lens that has a maximum equivalent of 2000mm. It is small enough to take anywhere. The sensor is a bit noisy above 400 ISO but DeNoise takes care of that issue.

Never assume a potential customer means what they say. If you don’t have a standard price list, agree on the size he wants and tell him you will get back to him. Determine what your cost will be and price it accordingly. Agree on the price before you have the print made! Many people have no clue on the cost of making quality canvas prints. The doctor just assumed what it would cost and balked when it was more than he expected. Agreeing up front protects both parties and prevents hard feelings!

I use Lightroom almost exclusely to post process my RAW files. Import the images to Lightroom to a folder descriptive of the event (Eagle101522 as an example). Next I cull any unwanted images. If All the images were taken under the same conditions, I select them all and apply adjustments as needed. Next I will review each image for final adjustments & cropping as needed. I then batch export all images to a sub folder using the folder name + jpg (Eagle101522jpg). Lightroom also has several “automatic” options such as lighting and exposure, that can speed up the process!

I agree with the comment about the R7 for birds and nature photography. I love mine coupled with a Signa 150-600mm lens. It is amazing how much you can crop and still have a sharp image!

AntonioReyna - The 400mm “Mirror” lens is a manual lens. There is a option on the Canon Mirrorless bodies to operate the shutter even if their is no lens attached. If you set that option to on, the lens would have worked.

You may want to check with Tamron before you decide to purchase a new mirrorless body. I have a Tamron EF 28-300 lens that works great on my Canon 7D MII but will not work on a Canon M50, R or R7 body. Tamron has confirmed that it will not work on the Canon mirrorless bodies with an EF adapter.

Make sure the lens mode switch is not set to manual focus.
