I have had an account with Zenfolio for several years. I create galleries for casual viewing, not for sales. I have about 2k images online. My main problem is that I am currently unable to view any of my photos. The thumbnails will not load into viewable size at all. Another problem is Zenfolio's current practice of the archiving of galleries. If want to view an archived gallery, you can theoretically restore it, but it may take 12 hours to do so. One more problem is the continuing upward spiral in price. It was $50 per year, then $60, now it is $77 for the "basic" plan. So, my fellow UHH readers, what say you about Flickr, or SmugMug? Or, any other place where I can create a nice site for family viewing (not just storage)?

Has anyone tried Amazon's storage? Does Amazon provide "view" service. I'm following this thread as I used, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Zenfolio. Flickr seems to be the one most manageable; however many of my viewers (mostly family) don't want to take the time to sign up to view.

Great images! It's hard enough to find a coyote, let alone get the shots you did.

Just get up in the morning here in my Phoenix neighborhood and you will see at least three or four wandering around looking for a tasty morsel. Cats and bunnies...

Hi there. I have a question for those who are using a D500 and Sigma 150-600C as well as a TC. If so what are your findings ie. I would much appreciate some feedback. Thanks in anticipation!

I have both, the d500 and the Sigma. The d5oo is a great camera, however I find the Sigma 150-600 sweet spot is around the 500 mm range. And with the d500 one usually gets one crop, maybe two because 24mp is all you have. I harken to the old saying: move your feet. If shooting wildlife, study, know the subject and learn to stalk. I believe the TC's are not the way to go.

Can anyone here resist carrying a camera to an activity (Or resist using the camera in the phone) and just enjoy the view or activity by immersing themselves in the view or activity and putting it into memory with all the emotions/feelings associated with where you are and resist taking photos?
Or can you just not resist keeping glass, metal and plastic between you and what is unfolding before you?
Perhaps we become too gear involved today to actually develop memories of the moment.
I see people living every event, concert recital totally through a cellphone screen or other camera.
Can anyone here resist carrying a camera to an act... (show quote)

I live the moment, I didn't in the past. I was the guy that always tried to "get it all". Now I get involved with my weddings, events, children and grandchildren. I do carry a camera and use it more for the one moment that jumps at me.

Very sorry to hear that - painful lesson learned and thanks for sharing.

The “golden” rule of data storage: 3 copies of your data - active (working) copy, local backup and an off-site disaster recovery copy.

You may be able to recover the data with a BlacX box. You will need to remove the original drive from the computer and insert the drive into the BlacX box, connect the BlacX to another computer by usb.

Usually, my wife and I each have a backpack for our gear, but we are planning a trip to Scotland, and I want to condense everything into one bag. Below is a list of what we will be taking. Of course, it still needs to fit under the seat, if possible. I would like to stay under $250, but would go higher for the perfect bag.

R7
6D mkII
100-400
RF100-500
16-35

Maybe a second R7 if there is room.

Thanks, Mike

I travel a lot. I use the carryon suitcase. easy to roll and is always with me. I do add a Packsafe backpack, (fits in the roll on) small, for one camera, batteries, ect. when hiking or other excursions. I never check gear. If I need more gear I rent locally if possible.

I have reached a wall with photoshop skills. I've researched YouTube and books and much of my own trail and error. My problem is with smart objects/ layer usage. Is there any online school which stands out? Or is this the time I register for one of the classes at a university? Background, I shoot mostly landscapes, sports, d-backs have let me shoot their games up to 9-11. Great fun but over, Nikon Kit guy.

White balance will affect the results if not set correctly. Try this, using a grey card, shoot on Auto 1 and then shoot using the grey card setting. I think you will like the card settings much more "real" and consistent. Colors will be more consistent.
