besides its not fair to the store or salesman when somebody walks in takes the salesman time handels the cameras makes a decision then walks out to order it on the internet. And then to add insult to injury comes into the store with the camera they bought elsewhere and wants his questions answered. In my book thats NOT COOL

Hi,

I think I damaged my Canon 7D by trying to insert the card the wrong way and bent one of the pins. Is there any service center close to Lubbock,TX or where could I send it to get it repaired and what would be the cost of such a repair?

Thanks. P.I.

I've done the same thing at a wedding dropped the card and in a hurry tried to put it in. I fixed it myself by removing the batteries and using a tooth pick and a small pair of scissors to straighten them out. then slowly inserted the cf card several times and no problems since. It did take me several hours but saved me a few hundred dollars. I dont know how bad yours are but I had 3 pins bent down pretty bad. Hope this helps

Wedding photography ts pretty specialized as in equipment a full frame camera as in canon 5dII a good back up camera or two ( You dont want one to go down and not have a backup) and fast glass you will be shooting in some low light situations, and some form of lighting off and on camera. There are several good wedding guide books out there read em all. If you can try to work with a professional at a couple of weddings as a second or third shooter to see if it is something that you really want to do (not as easy as it looks). Keep in mind this is the day most brides have been dreaming about for quit some time and there is a lot of stress on both the families and on the photogs. And as said above dont be cheap figure one day of scouting the location 12- 14 hour shooting day, assistants and or second shooter, proofing sheets and pp work for 10 -20 hours(Im a little slow )gas running around to the different locals all add up. Hope this sheds a little light and good luck in your venture.

Hi Kathy there are several sites comparing the different lenses on the web dpreview is one along with cnet. You can also look to some of the online retailers (amazon b&h photo, adorama) and get some pretty good reviews by customers that have purchased the lens and why it works for them. Im not that familiar with the Nikon brands but what I remember is that your camera is a crop body and a lot of people have had good luck with the sigma 10 - 20mm lens. Fairly inexpensive and good quality (I myself have one and use it often) good luck and hope you find what your looking for.

Assuming the price of any is not a factor then I would say for usage that you stated you are overthinking this. All of these are nice cameras that will last for years. I would go to a camera store, pick each one up, mess with the controls - does it feel comfortable in your hands? Are the controls easy to reach. Okay - done then, you've decided. Now go take some pictures.

Both cameras are good but as henrycrafter said being proficient is more important. My opinion is to pick up the cheaper cam and use the extra cash for the best glass you can buy. Cameras depreciate very quickly but good glass holds its value. Happy Shooting

Tasha, I agree with sinatraman 100%, the two books he mentioned are great must haves in the learning aspects of photography another would be Kelbys Digital photography series. The main thing is read your manual for your particular camera and get out and shoot. With the above referenced material and just plain experience you will see the difference very soon. Good luck and shoot alot

the advantage of buying from the websites I mentioned are twofold. 1 you are buying from a reputable business that inspects the camera before it list it they will also rate it from like new to bangd up bargain. with an individual you are relying on their honesty. I have won bids on ebay where the camera equipment was no where near as good as claimed and have bought used from the above websites where the camera shipped was in better condition than described. I know that adorama puts a 30 day guarwentee on their used equipment. The others probably do also. The stores take plastic while the individuals dont, and depending on what time of day you order your camera can be shipped out the same day. TRUST me you cant go wrong with buying used from any of the three shops. good luck
the advantage of buying from the websites I mentio... (show quote)

Although I agree with your recomendation of adorama and b&h On the forums I mentioned the more active members really value their reputation and buy and sell there equiptment in order to upgrade. Most do use paypal so you can use plastic and they provide good photos and descriptions. I have bought several items from all the sources and never had a problem. But do your research and check out the seller
