which one to get
I need some advice. My fuji s5000 quit on me and I am looking for a new camera for vacation. Have been considering the Nikon s9100. Please advise. Thank you.
good choice but you might want to take a look at the canon s95 very good in low light
Just bought canon s95 had it one week and love it
If you are considering either the Nikon or the Canon cameras, let me share another option you may want to seriously look at. The Leica V-Lux1 is available in about the same price range as the two you have had recommended. The resolution is very similar as is it's ability to produce very good low-light results but the lens of the Leica, a Vario Elmarit, is I believe, superior as are the color logarithms used in the firmware of the Leica. True, you would have to purchase the camera used or refurbished but the quality of the end product is worth considering. BTW...I have this camera and I LOVE it!!
PS...the attached photo was taken with the Leica.
Wow, FC1, that is unique and gorgeous! Why are there droplets only on the edges???
Best I can figure out the dew was slight the night before and the bud itself was closed, as they are, during the night. The bud opened in the early morning when I got the shot and, naturally, the only dewdrops were on the edges as a result of the bud being closed during the night.
Thanks for the explanation and when will we see more of your fine pics??? :-D
I can send one now. You're very kind to ask...I would like to see yours as well...
Really, really like your perspective on the beach access shot!! I'm very much in the "getting to know you" phase with my P&S but try to shoot as much as I can then trash most of it, taking notes as I go. Will let you know how that works out. LOL
rose tweaked with iPhoto on a Mac
Beautiful photograph! I really love the color composition with the placement of the green...very nice balance!
Quick note; I used to throw away much more of my work than I do now. Example below was imperfect because it was a "low-light" situation and I didn't have my tripod. Took it hand-held anyway and, of course, it was fuzzy on the edges, etc. In wanting to save the shot I post-processed it in Photoshop as an oil painting. You judge the result....
 That's what I think! It has such a warm, inviting feeling to it, besides being visually pleasing. Yep, I see your point. And I've done a little of that myself on my iMac with just the iPhoto software, trying for a "painted" appearance with my neighbor's flowers. I trash pics of things I know I can reshoot tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!
Poorly focused, so PP w/ iPhoto on a Mac

absolutely terrific feel to the shot. I do the same thing. I have a catagory in photoshop album called special projects. If it is an interesting shot but not in sharp focus or has other imperfections I will tag it with special projects and open it in photoshop 7 and play with it with the various special filters
What a good idea! Thanks for the tip and the thumbs up.
