We need more information. First are you shooting film or digital? which camera system are you using (nikon, cannon pentax etc. If you are shooting digital slr is it full frame or aps sized sensor? personaly I think a 28-80 zoom and a 70-300 zoom and a teleextender would have you covered from wide angle to telephoto.

Canon guy here but my favorite zooms 24-70L and 70-200L Need a little more reach throw on a 2x converter and your covered
