Nikon 14-24 2.8 is a perfect pairing with the 810 or 850.

I agree, the 24-70, 2.8 is the first. Then I'd recommend the 70-200, 2.8 and the 14-24, 2.8 to complete the "holy trinity". A 50, 1.4 is a nice addition here too.

Excellent picture. Very beautiful. I see a lot of red bellied woodpeckers and pleated woodpeckers, but haven't seen a red headed one. Where did you take the shot?

Nice. 2 & 3 seem slightly soft, i.e., not sharply focused.

I agree on 3 ... he was launching and I was a bit slow.

You get a couple more frames per second with the additional battery in the grip too.

I'm so proud of the previous comments about this image. Times are changing and I'm just happy that women are appreciated for all their collective values.

Your Greys are beautiful. You really captured their expressiveness and obvious love for the young man (& his for them). We have two right now too (the third passed away a couple springs ago). They are amazing.

I did that exact test on several cameras, including the D810.

IMHO the ultimate trifecta for a full frame is 14-24, 24-70, 70-200 f/2.8's. Then add the 200-500 for your wildlife photography and, boom, you have everything you need. Still hang on to the 24-120 for travel multi-purpose.
