A striking combination of the famous red rock and cloud. I felt (just my opinion) that it needed a little brightening:

In the 50’s, driving from outside Cincinnati to grandma’s up in rural NE Ohio we passed a lot of the Burma Shave signs along with barns painted “Mail Pouch Tobacco” and “See Rock City.” It was sure a different world then.

Loved them! And I spent my grade school years on Lookout Mountain TN, the location of Rock City.

The 18-135 is THE lens for most of your work - except long distance birding. I have an 80D and, although I have several lenses, this is the one I use almost ALL the time! My avatar which you see with this comment was taken with the 18-135.

- bench seats in the car
- 3 speed on the column
- dad plowing moms garden in the spring
- the annual church picnic where the same family ran the same both each
- Sunday with Sunday school in the morning and preacher service at night
- my 4H picking up corn missed by the pull behind corn picker
- cane fishing poles and worms
- only 3 channels on our black and white tv
- Stan Musial

What about you ?
I miss : br - a daily newspaper br - looking thin... (show quote)

I saw Musial hit a ground ball past 1st base so hard that it kept bouncing around the Forbes Field (Pgh) outfield wall and he was home before the Pirates could catch up with it. Also several studies have confirmed that those who attend church services have lower mental health issues than those who don't.

"Construction on the George Washington Bridge started in September 1927; the bridge was ceremonially dedicated on October 24, 1931, and opened to traffic the next day." So it is a LOT older than the 70s and even the 50s. It originally had more maintenance workers than all the other NYC bridges combined. The original plan was to cover the tower structures with stone but it was built during the depression and the city couldn't afford it. Many feel the towers are more beautiful as is.

Also "Andy Hardy" was a fictional character played by Mickey Rooney in along series of movies. This movie name probably fooled you into using it for a real (not reel) person.

It's funny how some people can't take a compliment. In one of my groups, there is a woman in her 70s who is very attractive, despite not wearing makeup or doing anything with her hair. Being the thoughtful gentleman that I am, I thought I would pay her a compliment.

"You know, Pam, despite the fact that you're probably pushing 80, you're still a rather attractive woman. Although you seem to be letting yourself go, never wearing any makeup and not doing anything with your hair, just letting it run wild, you're still rather nice to look at."

I expected a big smile, but she made an ugly face and stormed away. Some people just can't take a compliment.

That is NOT a compliment. Words like "pushing 80," RATHER attractive," "not doing ANYTHING,"LETTING YOURSELF GO," "NOT doing ANYTHING," and the ultimate insult: "you're still RATHER NICE TO LOOK AT" are belittling and insulting.

I have boxes and boxes of beautiful slides, especially Kodachrome taken from the 1960s to the early 2000s then tens of thousands of digital pictures taken for the last 20+ years. None will last except for the very few I have shared with others or put into pictures on my walls. Bummer - or just the way it is.
