This is one heavy lens, and I’m still practicing handholding it. When I do, I extend my left hand toward the front of the lens and try to brace my elbow, even if only against my body. Is there a better technique?

But my main question for those who use this lens for BIF is are you handholding at all? If not, are you using a tripod or monopod? A gimbal is above my pay grade for the foreseeable future, but I have a decent ball head. Suggestions?

Thanks!

I purchased the one below from Amazon & found it worked so well that I purchased a second one for my other tripod. Originally purchased Neewers light duty (8 lbs I beleive) which was kind of loose on horizontal movement. I then took a chance on the heavier (30 lbs) gimbal due to great reviews when the heavier Neewer was released. I now use the lighter (8 lb) on a monopod as the horizonal is not needed for monopod, which is where the play was. Just make sure you get the 30 lb newer design unit, which will work for tripod or monopod.

Nice pics, I really like the color, but you'd think they would have much more advanced technology in WW eleven.

Who said any thing about "focus speed" ? Lens speed (F stop) is not the same as focus speed.

Increasing the ISO does nothing for focus speed.

That must make you a better cook!!! I hate when some ahole comes up to me when I have my D7200 W/200-500 & makes a stupid comment like "is that ever a nice camera, I bet you get really nice pictures with it" I knew I should have bought good surgical instruments instead, then I could have been a brain surgeon

So buy it on line at Walmart & if not satisfied return to local store. Simple as that!!!

Leaving my Nikon SLR behind for good. Time for digital (and not just my iPhone!). Getting ready to purchase a D7200 body. Saw online at Walmart for $788.95. Seemed too good to be true so I called. They claim it is a US warranty camera with full English manual - not gray market. Nikon & Amazon list at $999, so I'm skeptical.

Excited to get on the D-train!

Anyone know for sure, or how to confirm its not gray?

Hi folks.
I am seriously thinking to replace my two kit lenses (18-55 and 50-200mm) with a Nikon 18-200.
I heard the tend to have issues when pointed straight up or down.
Which is really not a dealbreaker for me.
I just upgraded from a nikon D3200 to a D7200 and I think my skills have improved a little, and want the advantages of not having to change lenses every five minutes while on vacations.
I have been shooting with my trusty 50mm lens, and I like it a lot, specially the bokeh it gives.
I do mostly portraits but I also like to go outdoors and shoot at birds, landscape etc. Imputs will be really appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi folks. br I am seriously thinking to replace my... (show quote)

May want to consider 28-300 which is what I have for my D7100 & D7200. This is an FX lens, so you are using the center "sweet" spot on your D7200 & if you ever upgrade to full frame (FX) camera you can still use this lens. I purchased this to replace 70-300 as a walk-around lens as the 70-300 is not wide enough at times. Keep that trusty 50mm with you & you will have great range & the bokeh you like. The 28-300 also focuses down to 18" & has a zoom lock Trust me you will want the 300 end for shooting birds, I have the 200-500 mm and even add 1.4 teleconverter at times for wildlife shots. I figure on long hikes I will be able to carry the 28-300 rather than the 200-500 that weights in at over 6lbs.

I agree about the upgrade remorse & add that the file will be removed automatically after the return to previous system times out. In other words If you keep Win 10 the file will be deleted automatically when no longer needed. Don't worry, be happy!! or like I tell my wonderful bride, don't worry about sh*t that doesn't matter

[quote=rgrenaderphoto]Windows.old is a copy of your old OS install in case you get upgrade remorse and need to go backwards.

Just bought new PE15 program. After installing program I started uploading my pictures from PE12 as the program instructed me. However, the uploading stopped in the middle and I closed the Program. How can I transfer my photos from PE12 to PE15? I am 70 and a little slow with computers. Would appreciate very specific advice. Thanks in advance

All most as smart as switching the C & H on sink handles or putting the fridge door handle on the hinge side. I bet they were trying to figure out why you couldn't hook it up correctly????
