Assuming that is a "J", not an SJ or an SSJ. Either way it is just a beautiful car; timeless.

Great shot, KT. I agree with John. I was never a Ford guy but that '55 model here is one of the best looking cars of that whole era.

I too was never a Ford guy but that '55 was a really sharp car. The only Ford '55 model I liked better would be a Mercury Montclair hardtop or maybe a '55 Lincoln. All were nice cars in that year..

I get a lot of this kind of crap;many are referring to things I owe for but don't have,or never had, packages waiting to be shipped, etc.etc. Wish they could catch & jail the creeps doing this stuff.

I was & still am a Buick fan & currently drive one. That car is exceptional & very unusual. Never have I seen anything like it!

Think about it; wouldn't an airbag recall involve many cars rather than just a few? This would certainly generate a lot of work over a period of time. Sometimes there are so many cars involved(not just one make) that all the parts needed are not immediately available. If the fix is is not too involved, it can be a money maker for the tech. I remember and was heavily involved in the big Pinto gas tank recall many years ago. It seemed like we never ran out of them! So many of those that we became quite skilled on them & made decent money on repairs because of the time involved being less of a factor in so many repairs.

Iam 86 & have never been calld for jury duty. My wife, slightly younger, but now deceased, was called multiple times, but always excused because of a hearing disability.

As I recall, they were considered first class in some of the early truck business too.

Doesn’t look right with painted bumpers.

Neat car except for the painted bumpers & fender skirts.

It's less than $20. Psychologically you (most humans) can accept that more easily. Kind of like the .9 on gasoline sales - it just seems a penny cheaper.

I have always wondered about this myself. I always figured that these companies figured their customers weren't paying attention. Surprise! Some ARE paying attention. With the gasoline, I think there is another reason & it has to do with the pump.

We all know food producers have been slowly reducing the volume, but not the price, of the foods we buy. A one pound can of coffee now contains 14 ounces, a 5-pound bag of sugar is now 4 pounds, etc.

The newest ways food producers cheat consumers to keep their profits up is to switch to cheaper ingredients. Sodas once sweetened with sugar now use cheaper corn syrup. Many times, taste suffers and the new ingredients are even less healthy. In some cases, negative customer feedback forced manufacturers to return to their previous ingredients.

Since the '70's I enjoyed Cheez-Its but about 5 years ago they simply stopped tasting cheesy so I stopped buying them. Suddenly this summer, Cheez-Its boxes announced they were "now cheesier" and guess what; they once again taste the same as the old Cheez-Its. I wonder if this is a case where customers forced Cheez-Its to return to their previous formulation. I wish others would do the same.

This reminds me.....several years a go I used to get a vegetable snack cracker called "vegetable thins" I believe. Can't find them locally anymore & the ones I can get have no taste. Companies selling these deserve to go out of business.

I like the ones for services I don't use.

I get several a month from services I don't use & some I have never even heard of! Just don't reply to them & maybe they will go away. Don't give them any info & they can't use it.

Lived in Santa Monica, Ca. during some of the war years. It was different there than the inland states, I'm sure. I remember all the searchlights, blackouts, anchored blimps, etc. Never got out to Douglas Aircraft where my father worked...to my recollection. Otherwise in the daytime it was just another nice place to live. Close to the beach where we went on weekends, etc. Missed all that when we moved back to Nebr.

Cool car photos! As for the Studebaker in the drink, I bet the owner wishes they would have sprung for the Hill Holder option. In the brake system there is a caged ball connected to the clutch pedal. Put on the brakes pointing uphill and with the clutch pedal down, the ball rolls backwards and covers up the port trapping fluid and keeping the brakes applied allowing you to take your foot off the brake pedal. This allowes you to work the gas pedal. Letting the clutch out disengages the hill holder.

The 53 Studebaker, the one car that was really the outstandingly styled car of the year, you show half underwater. Was that the best photo you could get?
