If you're just sitting people on a seat and pumping out a string of portraits for corporate or college use then you might gain advantage using a tripod when trying to shoot a lot of characters but I feel it's more personal and intimate to work with someone and decide the picture as you go along. Also the subject will more likely be looking directly into camera which of course you usually want. Also I like to count off (eg 3,2,1) so people know when the shutter will go and you are less likely to get closed eyes in a shot.

"Quality" is misleading. I'm fairly sure the quality of your P&S is fine for a snapshot in your backyard, but may not be adequate for a portrait prize landscape shot. But for a given picture, the quality depends a lot on the sensor, manufacturer, etc.

My own personal choice is Domke, preferably in waxed canvas. Good brands include Kata, LowePro, Tamarac, Crumpler and, of course Domke. To buy a bag, put everything you're going to carry in a box (well padded), take the box to your nearest camera store and try stowing your gear in every reasonably-sized bag they have. No, they won't be perplexed or impatient with your search; I guarantee they will treat you like a pro and provide excellent assistance. Why? Because that's the way a pro does it. Good luck.

Thanks, I have looked at Domke and like the F2(sand).
Do not understand the "s" ?

First you have to ask yourself what size bag you are looking for. In other words, how much equipment should be able to fit in it. Having more than one bag may be a good idea. I have two - a small one if I want to travel light and don't really need multiple lenses with me. It's so compact and light that I sometimes even forget that I have a camera with me! The other one is bigger and can hold several lenses and plenty of accessories. This two-bag system has worked quite well for me.

I was thinking of a two bag as well. Do you have a favorite brand

I have read older posts related to title.
Damn confusing to search B&H and pick a bag.
I seek opinions on the better manufacturers. Comments or just listing brand(s) is requested.
Cost not much of a consideration.... looking for an excellent well made product. Thank You

Interesting! I put this in the category of 'suspicions confirmed'. If people were truly concerned about needless deaths then the automobile would be the prime culprit superceded only by the 100,000+ annual deaths attributed to "medical mistakes"!!

Right on target(pun intended). Truly amazing is people's in-ability to relate causes of needless death as described above. I suppose the fact that death by gun violence is more direct and media hyped. I seriously doubt majority of "gun bashers" even think about other causes of "needless death".

It is not what is killing the Republican party. The Washington elite old-guard Republicans who are completely deaf to the needs of their constituents are the ones killing the party.

I have been a republican all my life(73 yrs) but have not voted with the GOP lately.
For Boner(yes, misspelled purposely indicating my personal dis-respect) and the GOP to attempt to de-fund Obama Care or hold hostage the budget timeline is ludicrous beyond belief. The GOP continues its' fractured downslide. It truly is amazing to watch as partisan political posturing continues to be the major objective.
Damn the people, Damn the country, Damn the budget is the GOP mantra.

If you have a 7D, you are set for about any type of low-light photography. Look into buying a faster lens for your 7D.
FF bodies do have some advantage in very low light, but your 7D is a gem. Build upon this body.

Buy L new, re-furbished, used...but do it

here's another shot at the same settings.

I like the effect at 6400. Blurry hairs and other detail that is not crystal sharp does make for a nice photo.
I also have a 5D/II and will experiment with cranking ISO in low light. Thanks
