As others here have said, the K1000 was a great camera in its day. I had the Nikon equivalent, the FM. And while I loved shooting film, shooting digital is more rewarding (and fun, actually) for me today. If you are looking for a great hobby and can afford new gear, you should check out some of the digital cameras that are out there today. If I had "Bill Gates money," I'd have about 40 different models. all brands.

The FM is a much better camera.

I have been trying to contact Abes for 4 days to find out if the 810 is foreign made or not. I have tried 3 different ways (2by telephone and 1 by info@). I have had connections made to the info department and they hang up, refuse to answer and once I got an actual voice who told me to hold on. The price suggests it is not American made.

Nikon does NOT make anything in America!

Is your monitor calibrated and are you using ICC profiles for the paper you are using?

Raw is much more forgiving if you need to correct in PP. If you have the option to shoot in jpeg + raw, you will have all options available to you. Memory is cheap, but saving an image can be priceless.

I was on a hike taking photos yesterday. I was using my Nikon D60. I changed the White Balance to "Shade" when I was shooting a shady area. When I got back to the sunny area, I forgot to change back to the "Auto" white balance. I ended up shooting about 10 photos that now are too yellowish. Is there an easier way to fix the color of my photos than it is with "Image --> Adjustments --> Curves" in Photoshop? Can it be done in the camera or will I need to do it in Photoshop?

If "Curves" is my option to fix the white balance, can I get some suggestions on what adjustments to make to back out the change that "Shady" white balance made?

Do I need to post one of the photos for suggestions to fix the white balance?

Additional info:
I am away from home and my laptop has Photoshop CS5. I would like help for this version. However, I do have a newer version at home, CC 2015. If there is something that makes it easier with the newer version, I would appreciate the suggestions.

Thanks for any help.

Open your files using Adobe Bridge on your laptop. You can find the .exe file in your CS5 folder. Select the folder where your images are stored. Right click on the image you want and choose open in camera raw. Use the temperature slider to correct the color temperature. Save the file. Do this for each of the images you need to correct. I recommend saving the corrected images in a new subfolder.

I've been struggling with a decent fileing system and I like your renaming idea. I have a question though, where you park your processed images, do you file them back in the same folder as your raw file?

Thanks for the info,

I keep all of my files together from a shoot. I start with copying all of the raw files to a descriptive folder. I rarely shoot jpeg. Then when I edit a raw file from that group, I save it in an edited folder with layers as a tiff. If I process a tiff for printing or email as a jpeg, I save that in another folder called edited jpeg. Finally, if I edit for the Web, I save that in a folder called jpeg for Web.

The structure looks like this:

Bob and Mary's wedding (main folder)
> raw files
> edited tiff (subfolder with layers)
> edited jpeg (subfolder)
> edited for Web (subfolder)

This way all of my files are together and easy to locate.

So in the Chicago area, you went to, say, Lane Bryant and they didn't have a selection of binoculars. Obviously, you don't want advice, you just want somebody to place a pair of binoculars into your hand without any need for research. Does your cellphone, assuming the whitecoats trust you with one, have Google? You are the definition of the word "troll".

Wow, you really are a a$$hole! I am originally from Wisconsin and you are an embarrassment to the entire state. Please go climb in your hole. This person is just asking for advice.

I printed one of my photos, which was converted to B&W. Monitor is not calibrated, (at least not yet). Need to brighten the photo a tad.

Using Paintshop Pro, but I am sure some one with Photoshop can make the translation

Trying to globally brighten photo, familiar with using layers

Should I use Fill Light, Curves, or simple Brighten/Contrast

Willie

Use brighten, it will globally lighten the image.

Ford or Chevy? Wrigley's or Spearmint? Chocolate or vanilla? You should get your hands on a model of both brands that fit your budget, then make a choice.

Wrigley's made Spearmint. It wasn'the a choice.

You cannot adapt a Canon lens to a Nikon. You can adapt a Nikon lens to a Canon. Why, because of the flange distance.

This camera is aimed at younger buyers who LOVE sharing on their phones. Nikon and others are trying to excite younger buyers, if a company cannot get younger buyers, they will soon be out of business. ie. Buick did this for years now when they started the ad campaign, "It's not your fathers Buick" and now it's, "it's a Buick".

Actually the ad campaign was "not your father's Oldsmobile."
