I import by attaching my camera to the computer using a USB cable and import photos to a folder on my hard disk using the program Image Capture (comes installed on all Macs). I then check each image by pressing the space bar to bring it automatically to screen size and drag any image files I don't want to keep to the trash. The remaining photos are imported into Lightroom using the program's import function and saving them to a folder on an external drive. I generally delete the originally imported files on my Mac's hard disk but you can keep them there if you wish to keep backups on your main drive. I backup the Lightroom files to a second external disk.
Beautiful! I would appreciate a description of how you made these images.
Yes, you need to purchase your own cable to connect the Splash unit to your camera. Alternatively, you can manually control the shutter in a darkened room using bulb mode or a 2-3 second exposure to capture images.
Nice capture! Looks like a leafhopper.
I have that lens and love it.
The "in painting" tool in Affinity Photo works really well for removing wires even in difficult places.
Anthony,
Use the Mac's "Image Capture" utility to download your picture files to a folder on your hard disk. From there you can easily import them into any program (including Lightroom and Photos) that you wish. After importing them into another program, you can erase the folder from your hard drive or keep it for backup.
If you own a Mac you might want to take a look at Affinity Photo. It currently sells for under $40 and is getting closer and closer to Photoshop capability all the time. The latest (free) update to version 1.4 is especially awesome.
Number 1 looks like a bottlebrush plant.
What adapter did you use to mount it onto a Canon camera?
Beautiful work! I would appreciate learning about your setup.
El Capitan allows photo extensions from third parties for the first time. Google "el capitan photo plugins" for further information.
I use ImageCapture on the Mac (found in the Utilities folder) to download images to a folder on the desktop that I named "Imports." I then preview the images by simply pressing the spacebar to use OSX's built in preview program. Based on that view, I determine which ones I can safely delete because they are out of focus or have other serious issues. I then import the survivors into Lightroom and empty the "Imports" folder.
