Hmmm, I love 'em all (maybe the dog) but agree second is best BW although the first is, in my opinion, the best photo, gallery quality.

Great detail with just the right amount of sharp.

Ronald, I have no quarrel with the kit lens if that is what was bought .. A number of pro friends aslo point out that buying just the body and applying the hundred or so dollars (indicative of the quality) toward a more utilitarian"starter" saves in the long run.

All my life i have been advised .. save a nickel and then spend a time to upgrade is a very expensive habit. Been there, done that.

Now finally trying to exercise that advice and pass it on.

Does the grass look yellow in the LCD? If so, take it to a camera store and have the cameral checked.

You don't say what you are using but if a 'point and shoot' it most likely wont take RAW so the colors should be great if on Auto.

Have you printed any or looked at them on different monitors?

It may be that the display for your computer needs calibration.

Also if you are in some of the area of country i hear about, maybe the grass IS yellow .. just kidding. :-)

Hang in there .. these are fun challenges and all solvable.

The advise above is all good.

I have a T2i about a year oldand love it. The T31 has the articulating back which can be handy once used to it and couple of other improved features. They both have the same pixel, 18 MP and shutter speed 1/4000. You can get the T21 for a couple hundred less at on-line great outfits like B&H, my favorite, and Adorama.

I would buy just the body and get an 18-105 EF. That will give you great flexibility and is a terrific general purpose lens. It will be more but the 18-55 is not a very good lens in the long run and most of us replace it making it a waste of money.

That is a problem in photography .. sneaking up with entry levels and low quality is the way to spend the absolute most. Get the highest quality and best utility you can afford.

happy shooting .. the hobby of a lifetime.

Those are very good and hard to beat. But, have you tried NIK Silver EFEX Pro 2? I love B&W and shoot a lot of IR importing to Lightroom, strip any remaining color and edit in SEP.

You can download a trial: http://www.niksoftware.com/silverefexpro/usa/entry.php

I have the Sigma 18-200, for my T21 and added a Tamron 2.8 17-50 for interiors without a flash. The 3.5/5.6 18-200s are great general purpose for landscape, etc. with plenty of light. As far as extenders.. The APS-C lens (Factor of 1.6) extends the 200 to 320 which is pretty far.

If it were wide angle you were looking for the Tokina 11-16 is terrific but hard to find right now. Others are available which provide the 35mm equivalent of 18-25. All are under $1,00 and very good quality.

Agree completely with body only .. Tamron is good, as is Sigma and the Canons, too. I used the T2i until the 5D.

Do suggest all lens purchases should be EF so can use on full frame should you want o change.

Glad the T3i is working for you in weddings, they are tough .. on both sides of the lens ;-)..

What do you want to use it for and what do you mean by easy.

Any number of point and shoots by numerous manufacturers are excellent. Some with interchangeable lens are sort of in betweens. ALL are under $1,000. Good ones at $500

Buying a DSLR just to take "pictures" is a waste of money and a source of great disappointment.

For entry DSLR there is the Canon T3i at about $900 and the Canon D60 at a couple hundred more. Both can be bought with kit lens or body only.

Also Nikon and others are great .. just depends on your taste in flavors.

Suggest you drop in a local camera store or start a research program on line with google.

Good luck and hope you enjoy using whatever you get as much as I and so many do,
