:hunf: OK, bet you were looking for this reply: If you pass by a small pond every day and see water, then one day the pond is dry and there is a dead duck lying there, then by your logic, ducks come from water?

LOL :XD:

Love the pic. I am a bit too old to shovel snow, but would to live in a log home and let God melt the snow in His own good time. I'd use snow shoes to get around.

As to the dead battery, onn UHH said he now carries batteries in special pockets sewed into the armpits of his shirt, to keep them warm, a good idea I think!

:?: Many, many responses, but while surfing UHH, I ran accross this. It might be in the list of replies, but if not, I am quoting, w/o permission, what the person says, and I believe it:
Once you've met the bare minimum quality, it's not the quality of the equipment that improves your output quality. A better gun won't make you a better gunfighter; a better hammer won't make you a better carpenter; and a better camera won't make you a better photographer.

I think that says it all.

 Kudos, great and wonderful thought! Pink ribbons for the fight, and a defender of those who fell in battle, and a reminder that they are not forgotten or alone!

God Bless and Merry Christmas.

I've been an avid reader of UHH this past month, and have been surfing the wed for camera reviews. For some reason, it appears that like the American auto world, there are major players: Cannon and Nikon tied for first (depending on who is talking) then not much of anybody else. Sonny does seem to get a bit of attention, but what about the rest? Are there problems with other camera makers (i.e.; Oly, Panasonic, Samsung)? My "dream camera is the Sonny A77, but they are not the only mirrorless maker. I don't hear much about the others. Also, is there a difference of opinion about whether mirrored or mirrorless is best?

Makes me homesick. Lived in Anchorage 5 years, did a school trip to whittaker, and there were too many photo opportunities! Hope to get back there for a trip before I die!

Just read about old negatives and slides and it reminded me I have boxes of black and white and color (poor quality) from film days w/o the negatives. Can these be digitized by myself or do I have to send them out? We spent many months organizing them into months and years.

Good Morning Morning Star:

Does the idea of using a plastic bag also pertain to dust and moister resistant sealed cameras (Sony A77)? Even if it does not apply, I would assume the lens does apply. With the cost of lenses, it is better to be safe than sorry, or am I being paranoid also?

Kudos for sticking in there and working in your 60s. I am 69, retiring at the end of the year and my wife also has COPD, and I "assume" all the related problems, heart problems, breathing, holding her oxygen, hearing, multiple fractures from falling. She is sleeping in the dining room on a hospital bed and uses a walker to get to the bathroom. She is 64, so I guess we have a good idea of what you are going through. Do your best to enjoy this Christmas, take lots of photos, for you never know when God decides enough is enough.

Linda, orig from Main, now WA, yes I do enjoy UGHH. I learn every day something new and most is understandable to a newbie like myself. I must admit that as a child, I knew nothing about photography, but also remember that the large ones in b&W really caught my eye. The other day my 14 yr old granddaughter told me she wants a T3i for Christmas and is mostly interested in b&w too. Something for me to look foware to in retirement.

 Barns of any old age! I agree, there is benefit in both, but to me, showing age, tells the story of what has happened. In color I feel, how can I fix that barn, w/o any feelings.

I agree, human interaction is good, but living in a large area such as St Louis, you need to be very carefull with whom you associate. I have moved multiple times in my life, from a small town of 450 to Atlanta. Believe me, people are different everywhere. There is good and bad everywhere, but grandpa is limited on what he can do, so his choices are his to make, and if they work, great!!! Go for it gramps!
