Just taking a poll and survey says.......
Well, that does it, then - 100% of respondents agree that glossy is better. Therefor it must be so!
Depends on the photo. I don't print a whole lot, these days, so when I do, I have decisions to make....
I tend to semi-glossy more than full glossy, for them most part, but if the frame isn't PERFECT, there are some mattes that will help the overall presentation.

Got together with a few friends over the Holidays and wound up with the biggest debate over glossy vs matte finish. I really think it depends on subject and print size and how they will be viewed (framed or album), but that's just me. I was just wondering what your preference and reasoning would be.
Glossy metallic for LS. Matte for peeps. :)

Well, that's too simple. I think glossy is usually a good choice, but there are exceptions. It depends on the photo and what you are going to do with it. Fine art prints can be printed on various fine art papers. There is canvas, too, and metallics. It depends on the photo.
I use gloss for the CClub because it is sort of standard. My personal feeling is a vote for Matte. No glare, softer image but not the same as "soft image"
Simple choice Matte
Glossy if I used a Canon, Matte if I used a Leica, Semi glossy if I use a real camera. Sorry
Depends on the subject. Matte for portrait, glossy or semi-gloss for others. Matte for others also if I want.
As a graphic designer...I'd choose matte likely 9 times out of 10...
