In order to avoid paying an eternal subscription fee to Adobe, I'm researching alternatives to Photoshop. I'm hearing good things about Corel Paintshop Pro and Affinity Photo, but I have not used either one. If you have experience with either of these programs , or other Photoshop alternatives, I'm eager to hear what you have to say. FYI, my interest in photography is strictly as a hobby.

I have been using Paint Shop Pro for many years and found it can do everything I need. I belong to a camera club and some of my work as been hung in the community center gallery. You buy it once and you don't have to upgrade if don't want to. I upgrade about every other year for a small charge.

In your own opinion what is your favorite all around carry lens that you want on your cameras 99% of the time. While walking down the street or in the mountains. If you could have just one what would it be. Gary D

I have had success buying used lenses on Ebay for my Nikon. The walk around lens is a Tamron 18-270 and my other lens is a Nikon 35mm 1.8. Both from sellers on Ebay and both in great condition..

I started using Picture Keeper which goes through my computer ans backs up all my photos. It doesn't back up duplicates and on subsequent back ups only gets the new shots. I've been backing up to a 128GB flash drive. When it is full I'll just get another flash drive.

I use Photostick and it does not backup the duplicate photos. For example i have photos saved in my Paint Shop Pro program and also saved in Windows Picture library but only 1 is backed up to the flash drive.

My wife and I went on a trip like yours, on a river cruise, a couple of years ago and I took my Nikon, a Tamron 18-270 lens and a small pocket camera. With that range it worked out well.

I have used various versions of Pant Shop Pro including the current 2018 Ultimate and have never had problems with any of them. I get them directly from Corel and also have never had to pay a monthly fee.

I have used the Tamron 18-270 on my Nikon and have found it very good on trips to Europe and the western states. It tends to slip down when hung from the camera but an added band on the lens stops that. It's not too heavy and it is a great walk around lens. Here is a shot I took in Holland with it.

On river cruises in Europe I found my Tamron 18-270mm lens on my Nikon perfect for the shots I wanted. There is plenty to see and i sure you will enjoy the trip. Being on a river allows you to see the little towns, cities and sites from a good distance and close up.

I ave been on 4 trips to Europe - 3 river cruises and 1 land trip. I travel with a Nikon D5500 (previously a D5100) and a Tamron 18-270mm zoom lens. I leave the tripod at home. I have never needed anything else.

One way to avoid this is to take the batteries out of the flash after you use it.

I also use Corel PaintShop Pro X9 but do not have that problem I shooting raw with a Nikon but there should be no difference. When I bring up a Raw image there is no cast to it. Maybe it is a setting on your camera.
