Jim, Thank you ... drastic improvement. It should be noted that I don't think I did anything to the original except maybe for minor sharpening (over entire image). Can you please give me the details on how you softened the background? I use APS only.

Nikon D780, 200-500mm with Nikon 1.4 teleconverter. Distance: ~100m. Taken on bench above my home in Provo, Utah. He was one of 11 rams in the little herd. Criticism welcome.

I knew he wasn't a winner, just a "wet bird"! Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Have a friend who does this ... you might know him? Lipchow. Glad there are a few people in the country who know about our real history!! Great series.

Super series! These guys are fast and hard to capture inflight, but when we are lucky, they can pose a bit (IF they don't know you are there)!! Very pleasant to view.

I was going to download the photo but did not see a "download" link. Did you upload the photo and also indicate, "Save original"?

I'm new to this ... was off for couple of years. Sorry ... will do next time or will try right now.

Do you want to show solid black back ground? OR perhaps direct some subdued light from side to add contrast to velvet wrinkles in background? Might be nice to add to an otherwise crisp well arranged image.

A very wet bullock's oriole. Did not take into photoshop to clean distracting artifacts on pine cone. CC, Repost OK

As I take a relook, each are different sizes (probably different instars), thus differing colors for differing stages!? Interesting!!!

The last one is extremely interesting (colorful) ... did you dip them each in "easter egg dye"? Soooo different, they are surely different taxa. BTW: Great photo work!
