I have found that cropping is better. I use both a 300 f4 and 80 - 200 2.8 nikon lens and a 1.4x with a d300s body. For me I would rather invest in a longer lens. Just my opinion.

You may want to look at Think Tank holster. I have two sizes, the larger for a camera body and 300 mm f4 lens. I bought the belt, holster and extra lens pouches, all of which attach to the belt.

Great shots! What is your camera and lens of choice?

Years ago I purchased a nikon 80 200 2.8 lens that was grey market but B and H offered a Mack 7 year warranty. I ended up using the warranty. No problems at all. I still have the lens but think that in the event I want to sell it, I may have a problem getting top dollar. I was told never to purchase a grey market camera body. Any purchases I make now will have the USA warranty with it.

I'm curious, Adorama and B&H offer 12 month warranties on gray market equipment and fully explain what gray market items are and why they sell for less, usually. Both of these companies enjoy great reputations and great service. I have seen many postings recommending refurbished equipment and suggesting these two companies. I cannot recall anyone suggesting gray market items. Why?

I purchased a Kenko 1.4 for my 300mm Nikon lens and now wish I had put the money toward a good lens.

Why not set up a website and start selling online and at craft shows? Most of my shots are landscapes and wildlife. I love being outside hiking and experiencing nature at it best. Photography is something that I can do to make it better. Sell your best shots!

I have to tell you, you did a nice job. A few months ago I considered getting the Sigma 200 - 500 lens but opted to get the Kenko 1.4 converter for my old Nikon 300 f4. Lookong at the results you are getting I wish I had waited for this lens. Needless to say I am not getting as sharp photographs with my setup.

I believe boberic is 100% correct in this case. Your shutter speed is just not fast enough to freeze the action. All the other stuff mentioned although correct in many cases is just not what is going on here. You need a faster shutter speed!

I have looked ay these shots again. I am certainly not an expert photographer but I do know dogs. I noticed that the dogs were panting. If you look at any panting dog their heads as well as the bodies are constantly moving. A smaller dog is moving even faster ralative to their body size than a bigger one. The loss of sharpness when enlerged to more than 8X10 is related to subject movement here. 1/60 is simply not fast enough. I do not think that it is any more complicated than that.

If you did not want to use a cloud type of storage then I would suggest backing up to 2 external hard drives one of which should be stored somewhere other than your home.

I like them all! What camera and lens did you use for the birds?

I like 3 and 4 the most. Nice set. What kind of camera did you use? The exposures look to be dead on!
