Linda, This one is sharp. Of course you need to change perspective. Ladder? Try handholding and increase your shutter speed.

Best,

Mike

Thanks Mike!

I love trees, this one was no exception. Had to photograph it, but there were electric wires and stanchions behind it so never worked it up. Each time Photoshop came out with an upgrade to their selection tools, I tried it on this tree. Finally was happy with one and enjoying composites, I used a soft cream/orange/tan background and a hazy overlay. Comments/critiques welcome. Bev

Your image has a very soft and dreamy feel to it!

The photo is quite unusual. But I love what you did with the gruesome subject matter to make it more palatable.

This shot was taken outside (not through a window). Critique please. Canon 7D Mark II, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM, used a tripod, 1/200, 5.6, Auto ISO (250), 400mm

I would like to purchase a shutter release for my Canon 7D Mark II. I do mostly wildlife and macro photography. Should I get one with a cable or wireless? I like dependable equipment, and there are so many choices out there. What would you recommend?

Yeah, I realized the shutter was too slow -- forgot to check before I started to shoot. :-(

I tried to post a pic here, but not an option here, so sent you a PM with a pic. Does the window open? If so open it while mom is away. If not, clean the window inside and out, use newspapers to wipe with. Might try a tripod with live view if an option.

Good luck, wish I was there.

Mike

Hi Mike! I'm going to see if I can get the window to be open (it's not my house). Yep, tripod and live view next time! I was thinking of investing in a shutter release -- any recommendations?

Linda, Posting here I assume you are looking for feedback. Wonderful opportunity if you know where this nest is. But looking at your photo, I’m struggling to find any part of it in sharp focus. Was your lens clean?

Best,

Mike

Hi Mike -- Yes, I am looking for feedback. I was shooting through a window. Any advice for shooting techniques to get better focus through a window?

When one lives in rural South Dakota “Social Distancing” and “Self Isolating” are quotidian, natural phenomena, requiring no purposeful thought. It isn’t until the FedEx delivery man, wearing a mask, sets a delivered package on the porch after vocally confirming, from more than the recommended 12-foot distance, the addressee’s identity and explaining why the requirement for signing for the package is waved that one gets a hint of what folk in regions of more densely populated areas are experiencing in this “Time of Corvid-19”.

And so, with awareness heightened of being in my evidently precarious ninth decade of life, I wonder who was coughing or sneezing in that aisle of the distant bookstore...In Seattle, actually... I do a Clorox wipe-down of the package, and then of the cover of the contained book, and safely discard the wrappings. After hand washing and a couple of dollops of hand sanitizer rubbed in till dry, I return to sorting through my image archives.

And here’s one image that surfaced for which critiques are welcomed and requested .

You all be safe and well.

I love the sharp focus on the knot on the rail --placed in a "third" area. I also like the way the rail leads you to the knot all the while sitting in soft focus. I also like the leaning vertical post adding to the feel that it's been there a while.

While the bold jumper was preoccupied with dinner I had more time to get a decent shot without having to keep my eye on the scurrying little lady . . . . .
