I love trees, this one was no exception. Had to photograph it, but there were electric wires and stanchions behind it so never worked it up. Each time Photoshop came out with an upgrade to their selection tools, I tried it on this tree. Finally was happy with one and enjoying composites, I used a soft cream/orange/tan background and a hazy overlay. Comments/critiques welcome. Bev

Beautiful picture and the simplicity is key here. Personally I feel it would be improved slightly by upping the contrast to give the tree a little more oompf. This is a well thought out image though, and the muted colours blend well with the story of the image - lost, lonely, mysterious.

I luv this. I doubt bringing out the tree could improve what seems perfect already (but I have not tried it).

I love this picture. There is a something about it that I cant describe yet I can feel. Metaphorically The background is trying to overpower the tree but the tree is winning The location belongs to the tree the background is just a visitor.

The quarantine must be getting to me. When I see metaphors in pictures 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Great picture.

Bev, I’m a long time sucker for images of solitary trees and this one near brings a tear of @dmiration to my eye!

You treatment is exquisite! Beyond that, words fail!

Thank you, ever so much, for posting this!

Damn...forgot this is in the Critique section:
Impact: strongly dependent on composition and contrast ...4/5
Technical: no reasonable changes suggestible 4.5/5
Composition: a minimalist image based on diagonal with balance of positive and negative space across the diagonal. Well accomplished! 5/5
Total: 13.5/15 (That puts it in ribbon range in any show I judge)

Dave

I'm glad it brought up metaphors, gives us something else to think about in this quarantine. Thanks. Bev

I'll accept your comments and ribbon with blushing thanks. I really do love tree shapes and when I can come up with an ethereal look, it adds to my sense of calmness. Bev
