I've replaced most of the bulbs in my house with LED's, and I'm pleased with the results. They are brighter than the fluorescents they replaced, and they'll probably outlast me. Amazon had a pack of six for $31, so I got two. Two days later, the price had risen to $43. Good timing on my part.

These bulbs use only 9.9W, compared with 23W for the CFL's. Have any of you gone 100% LED?

MT Shooter is right again. I have a D7000 with an MB-D11 and frequently use a 70-300 4.5-5.6 VR lens. I found this great strap, SpeedCarry, it attaches to a Arca Swiss compatible quick release plate that attaches to the tripod socket. Very convenient. It keeps the quick release plate accessible and no neck strain. The problem is the camera and lens are too much weight for the screws holding the MB-D11 together. The main switch on the D7000 went out and I had to send it to Nikon for repair, they did a great job, when I tried to take the MB-D11 off, the locking dial(?) would spin but not loosen the tripod socket screw. I pushed down on it hard and finally got it removed. Upon getting the camera back from Nikon, I tried to re-attache the MB-D11 and had more difficulty. I took the MB-D11 apart expecting a problem with the locking screw and all 6 of the screws the hold the top plate of the MB-D11 together had broken screw threads. I was able to super glue them back together and reassemble the MB-D11 and reattach it to the D7000 but do not think it is a long term fix. I still like the convenience of the strap so I bought the Black Rapid ConnectR-2 and have attached it to the spring clip attached to D7000's strap lug. We will see how that goes. Lesson learned.

By an L bracket for the camera with grip attached. Attach the strap to the L Bracket, problem solved.

I am considering the purchase of a Wacom tablet for editing photos. What are your thoughts? I don't understand the different features of their Bamboo and Intous lines. Which would be best?

Intuos medium is my suggestion.

I would be interested in how everyone stores their photographs. What system do you use? Cloud, external hard drive, etc. I would appreciate detailed info since I am a beginner to all of this but desperately need help since I have 20,000 pictures on my MacBookPro and am concerned that I might loose them to a crash or something which would be tragic. We do have a 2 TB Time Capsule that does automatic backups (would that mean it backs up my pictures and how would I check that) and I have a 1 TB external Porsche Design that I have not used yet because I am trying to find out how best to lay out the back up on the disk. I also have a WD external that became to small to back up on. Thank you in advance for your help.

Was checking into a Nikon 7100 and discovered this: New from Amazon with a 18-140 Zoom lens is priced at $1296.95. I jumped over to Nikon's website to check prices on a refurb 7100 and with the same lens it was priced at $1799.95. One of the problems I have always found with camera equipment has always been the wide and varible price range. Can't help but feel sympathy for someone buying their first camera. Let the Buyer Beware is so true with everything.

This a a bundle sale of the lens and camera. The lens is discounted if you buy the bundle. The price of the camera body is $999.95 and the lens is $486.95.

Yesterday, at the end of the day, UPS returned my D7000. It was sent to Nikon service due to a faulty main power switch. FedEx delivered it 1/5. I had not heard from Nikon so I called on the 9th.They said they had it in the building and would let me know when they had it recorded in the system. I got nervous. I received an email a couple hours after the phone call confirming the conversation. Got less nervous. On the 14th, sooner than projected over the phone and email, I received an email containing a quote to do the repairs. It seemed high and I considered not repairing it. I looked at upgrading, the advice of friends, and decided to repair it. I sent them the cc late on the 14th. I'm sure they got it on the 15th. I got the camera back on the 19th and am VERY happy. Still testing but the camera feels better than when brand new. I think the main power switch was a little off from the beginning. It feels crisp. The auto focus seems to work faster (maybe distorted by the fact that I have not gone two weeks without photographing something in years). They tuned it up completely and cleaned the sensor. They did forget to re-attach the ring clips that hold the strap to the lugs but I called them today and I think they will send some in a couple days. The price doesn't seem so high now. The only other time I have had to have Nikon service a product, I lived in Torrance CA and took it to the repair facility and they had it back in a few days. That was the late 1990s. What is the point of my rambling? They did a good job, to be confirmed technically this weekend with a few hundred frames of my kids, for a reasonable price and in a reasonable amount of time. We are all quick to pound companies when the service is less than perfect, I'm happy with Nikon and think I should say so.

There is an authorized Nikon Camera Service in Woodland Hills,

Authorized Camera Services (ACS)
21250 Califa St., Suite 110
Woodland Hills, CA 91367

Phone: 818-340-0582
Fax: 818-340-0586.

I use them all the time, great service. They will send your camera to Nikon for repair. I took my D800 in for warranty repair and they sent it to Nikon. They work directly with Nikon. Also, there is a Nikon Corp. place near you but I cannot remember in what city I been to it a couple of times to pick up small parts for my camera. You can take your gear in and pick it up. ACS knows their location.

NOTE: If you would like to walk you gear in and know that it is good hand. This is just another choice when you notice something wrong with your camera and if there is a recall.

I am looking for some Good Headphones that would go over my ears. I would like a good value and on sale around $100.00. Can someone give me some ideas? Let me know what you are using that you like or don't like

A couple of years ago I did the research to find the best noise cancelling headphone for listening. I found that the JVC Model HA-NC250 were beating out some of the Boise Models. The JVC headphones are great, come with carrying case, cable, and attachments. The Headphone are collapsible, which makes it easy to carry them around.

Hi guys, IM thinking of buying a Nikon D4S. I mostly do weddings. So far my primary camera is a D800 with 24-70 & 70-200 Nikon. My main purpose of the D4s is low light capability and not to miss the moments of the wedding due to focus hunting which D800 has sometimes. So pls give me ur guys comments. Appreciate much.

I have the D800 also, did not have the coins to buy the D4S, but did buy a used D3S. The D3S will fit until I can gather the coins for the D4S. I at not missing any images because of the focus issues, frame rate, and buffer size with the D3S.

Guess I am confused about this. I have been reading and lot and it still doesn't make sense. Do I need to spend $ 300 to accomplish getting excellent colors on printing? Thank you[/quote]

Datacolor Spyder 4Elite is then one I use, it does an excellent job.

Switching to a Mac is getting a lot of recommendations. I may have missed it in the thread but I didn't see any discussion about the need to purchase new software programs if you switch from a PC to Mac. Is this correct?

Every image processing software runs on both MAC and PC. You just have to download the MAC VERSION. If you are running Lightroom you already have the software.

I am just getting started in photography. Something I started as a hobby when my husband bought me my camera a couple Christmases ago and has grown. Now everyone wants me to do photos for them from senior pictures to weddings. I just did a softball teams photos (almost 30 girls with A and B team) and my computer has finally quit on me. It's been repaired, updated it done. Any recommendations on brand of computer best for editing as I will be purchasing a computer today as I have to get these photos done and out as the season is ending (I was told at the last minute I would be photographing this team) help!

Also any photo editing advice? I have tried Lightroom and photoshop which maybe it is just me but I find extremely difficult no matter how many tutorials I watch. And it frustrates me bc i see all these amazing photos come out on these ads for photoshop filters. So far I just try to take the most crisp clear photos I can and any editing I do on pic monkey or a couple other editing software I have that's similar. But I want to expand my work to so much more, especially with the demand I am now getting! If anyone has any suggestions on the computer that's my 1st priority I have a lot of work to do quick now that mines done for (by the way it's a dell we have had for quite some time, it's been through a house fire and everything, I think it's time she goes) I appreciate any time, help, and advice you so kindly could share!
Thank you.

Recently I just completed my Home migration from the PC platform to MAC with the purchase of the new MAC PRO. I became so feed up with Microsoft and their buggy operating system. So my suggestion to you is to buy an iMac you will be happy. I gave my wife an iMac 3 years ago and she is happy and I am happy.

Yes. You have better control to remove spot from you image because of dust from mirror, lens, or sensor. The prospective tool is great.

I use it for resizing only. I believe this is the best feature of this software suite.
