As in industrial engineer, I would point out that the use of photography in industrial settings was not so much the purview of industrial relations as it was of industrial engineering. Frederick W. Taylor and Frank and Lillian Gilbreth were pioneers in that field. Early IE's broke motions down into 18 elements called Therbligs, which was, of course, the name Gilbreth, spelled backwards, more or less.
By the way, for those who may be interested, the lives of the Gilbreths were portrayed in two Hollywood movies, Cheaper by the Dozen(1950), and the subsequent sequel, Belles on Their Toes(1952) .
