I hope you have reservations. It's a very popular ride. The comments on staying away from the engine use to be a fair warning, because of the coal cinders. Now, all the engines are oil-fired. They were having too many fires along the tracks from the cinders. I've been on the Durango-Silverton ride twice. Awesome ride. Can be quite cold at times. Would really like to take the Cumbres and Toltec ride. It's a longer ride with a barbecue at the mid-point on a ranch.
USAF, '59 - '67, Weapons systems specialist. Left service because of limited advancement opportunities. Saw all four corners of the states plus the middle. Got to spend some time in Okinawa, allowing me the opportunity to visit Japan twice and pick up some awesome Nikon equipment at a great price. In all, not a bad 8 years.
Have you considered the Nikon P1000? Built specifically for wildlife.
I live a half hour north of Pismo Beach. Great pier and beach. Morro Bay is northwest about 20 - 30 minutes with a lot of things to see and do. You will enjoy your stay. The weather is getting nice.
My lenses are manual focus. They were purchased in 1964.
Will it work with film camera lenses and set to manual mode?
Have you looked at the Nikon P950 or P1000?

I see them both with round butts. From 'behind', who can tell the difference? Just sayin'....
Saw this one when I worked for Xerox Service, And a lot of other good ones.
How 'bout "squeet"? (Let's go eat)
If you live near a university/college and there is a camera shop nearby, try selling on consignment. Students getting into or advancing in photography often shop for consignments at local camera stores. The store will get a share of the sale, of course. Worth a check.
