18 Months ago I suffered a stroke down my RH side, effecting speech, unable to write a sentence, having problems concentrating reading and could not sort my laptop. After 3 months my IT began coming back and one of my first sites was UH and it recognised my log in. So you if are in the same place I was in, do not give in.
My next target is trying to operate the half brick I know as my camera with my left hand. WELCOME

Myself and 100’s of other PC/L’top users have problems with erratic cursers (according to searched forums & other Q/A sites), making it impossible to continually type without having to correct the curser location. Even this post up to now entailed at least five corrections. None of the searches seem to have any answers except (pay for) System Fixing Sites. I am dubious about down loading any of these fixes,(my experience was a complete mess up of my files, etc) Maybe somebody out there has had this problem & sorted it? I run on ASUS K55A, Windows 8.1 & Office 2007.

Why just don't you email the images to yourself and download them on your Mac?

Was thinking this myself. (In my ignorance) would it not degrade the quality of the downloaded file?

This won't answer your question, of course, but the cartoon icons were too offensive for me, and I immediately dumped it.

Would you please advise me what was offensive & I will try to not to offend.

The cost of an ink cartridge on my R2400 is not $19, but much cheaper from a 3rd party. But I'm afraid of damaging my printer. Has anyone used 3rd party ink cartridges and would they please share their experience?

Re' your enquiry regarding 3rd party inks, I have been using compatible inks for years.
Besides being less than a 3rd of the price of the branded inks I have found them pretty stable.
I will-not purchase a printer unless it will take cheaper/compatible inks & I have had a few (different makes) all-in-one printers over the years.
My latest purchase (1year ago) Epsom XP-305. The retailer (reliable) added a free set of compatible inks & was advised to load them, ignore Epsom pop up warnings & to keep the supplied Epsom inks to insert in the printer in case of printer faults under the warranty..
Also advised not to download Epsom updates.
The amount of money I have saved has been more than buying a new printer.

Though having been download on several MS programmes over the years my ancient PS7 software (disc) is refusing to run on my new lap top/MS 8.
Budget dictating, I have been cruising the free editing software & downloading a few, finding them pretty infantile, after what I have been spoilt with & used to.
I have been keeping away from Gimp on account of the long learning curve stated on various posts. I'm asking – has Gimp a cloning ability & the facility to select & move to another page? Trusting to UH Gurus.

[quote=Captain Jim]I plan to purchase a Nikon D810.. I see a price of $2179 new at 42nd Street Photo... and $2990 in places like Amazon.. I also looked at Nikon.. what is the difference.. and the safe deal for that amount of money..?[/quote

Can not comment myself re' the above, as being in the UK my port of call was Jessops but this post got me interested.
Googled in 42nd Street Photo reviews & the attached looked interesting.

"Bait and switch. I purchased a Nikon D750, the price seemed low, but 42nd Street had a good rating so I gave them a try. After a couple of days, I got a high pressure sales call for a memory card and warranty upgrade. That is when it came out, that the camera was an import model with no warranty in the US. I don't necessarily blame them for selling import models without warranty, but a honest dealer would have made that clear from the get-go and many do."

While on the same subject I want to use a Vivitar 263 flash {which would burn my Canon Rebel innards} as a fill in flash or as main flash via wireless transmission. I have a Metz 36 which is compatible to my Canon. Would a transmitter on the hot shoe & a receiver on the Vivitar work? Not wanting to spend untill I get some good Hog advice

Reply to: Is it time to retire jpeg?

I must confess I’m not the most technically minded & was curious as to where this post was going & blew up the 3 images. At 400% looked OK @ 500% showing an encroachment onto the blue on the corners.
I’ve come to the conclusion @ 400% that’s some print, somewhere I can’t see me going.
I appreciate the knowledge a lot of the purist Hoggers have thus enhancing my own photography. Thanks for encouraging me to join in, but I’m glad it’s not going to affect my photo’ enjoyment as I’m happy in the world I live in.

I just purchased a Tamron 18-270 lens and like it very much.

I was wondering if anyone else uses this lens and what they think of it.

I'd start with pictures and then discussing what we got and how we might like to change or improve the results. The camera, equipment, exposure triangle, composition, lighting, filters, post, etc. are all means to the end of the resulting image. And for newbies, I fear starting with these could get in the way of taking pictures (which I think is why most of us have cameras and came to photography in the first place). The rest can all be introduced as a result of taking and discussing pictures, deciding how to make them better, trying to do that and seeing the results.

Asking re’ the feasibility & wisdom of attaching a ball-head to my tripod via the release camera base fitting on my tri pod & monopod as the adjustable heads are fixtures. On a rather ancient tripod I had years ago it just had just a ball- head (basically the ball in a claw with a tightening screw). The reason for asking is the ease & speed of the ball-head, but I would revert to the original head adjustments for landscapes etc where time is not a factor. What are the pitfalls of connecting to the removable camera base-plate on my tri-pod. I have an idea I’m going to hear of some terror tales out of my enquiry, but I am loath to be purchasing new tri/mono-pod’s.

It's the design not to have the door be broken when accidentally hit on some thing when the door is open. My Nikon Df is like that, and on my D200, i can just pull the door off when I need to put on the battery grip. My daughter's D90 does the same. so don't worry about that!

Ditto on my old 400D when using a battery grip. Never been any problem.
