Soounds a lot like England...one inch of snow and the country comes to a slithering halt...except for us North Americans who just let a few psi out of the tires for grip and carry on regardless. Such fun;)

Thanks for the info and thank you for the color kudo! We will be on a far size ship and never thought about THAT movement. Bar Keep, another round of brewskies please!

Have a great time, take a lot of pics and post them soon. We need images with heat- it's freezing here.

Man I feel for you guys. Austin Texas is 76 degrees and no end in sight for a week or so.

Funny! BTW, the last blinding snowstorm we had was...NEVER. Not to mention the last time this city shut down was due to a whopping 1" of snow...No bull! COLD to most folks here is 40 ABOVE zero.

You can always buy another camera....body parts that work without complaint (mostly)and are original equipment can't be replaced. And I've never had a repair that worked as well as the original

What, rain- here, nah !!!! Enjoy your trip.

Best way to see London will be from top of The Shard ( tallest building in w.europe?) nr Tower Bridge. Guess it's about £25 and viewing platform due to open I think in February. I'm planning to go when it actually does stop raining.

Be prepared for mostly flashless photography indoors. Most National Trust and English Heritage places don't allow flash photography. Privately held properties may not allow any photography at all. I use primarily the 10-22 wide angle, a 70-300 long zoom and a 22-55 short zoom as the most common but never leave home without the 1.8 50. As for rain protection, You can make your own out of a shopping bag and a bit of tape. Not posh but effective and on a budget.
But beware; I came over from Canada ten years ago and still haven't been all the places I want to go. It can be addictive to any photographer. One final note, you'll be bringing your battery charger, canon and Nikon both work 100-200 volts so all you need to do is change the plug. I brought a short jump lead and female end from Canada and bought a plug locally to fit the other end. Saves another few dollars for more useful pursuits.

I think a light blue background cast would probably highlite the product a bit better. Experiment with different background colours and let the sponsor decide?

But to continue, when I first started gettting into photography, my mentor advised me to identify my passion.?? I thought that was tough but she said no, it's dead simple. What do you take the MOST photographs of and what CAN'T you resist when you see it that makes you want to walk ten miles back to get your camera? That's your passion.
It's not the only thing you photograph, but it's what you photograph most. Once you identify your passion, you can start to think of what you need to best capture it.
If you follow your passion, you will do whatever it takes to get to the top of your game.

This is a popular topic here. The best answer I have seen was posted in July. Click on the link below to read it.

It sounds a bit like accumulated tolerances. the pluses and minuses of tolerance in manufacture mean that every so often you try to join up something that should work and find it either loose to the point of thinking you got sold the wrong kit OR so tight that you think you'll wreck something.
Years ago I was playing paintball (And attempting to video some without getting shot...another story) and I'd picked up a trick bolt which was supposed to be like shooting laser beams. Not for me but for my friend. So while he visited the toilet, i switched his bolt and mine. The result? Two pain markers that were shooting pure laser beams. I never did tell him about the switch; we don't always play on the same side... but the technician explained it was a case of accumulated tolerances.

What a wicked idea... so many interesting possibilities and opportunities. I'm always up for a party and adding photography to the mix could make for interesting. The idea of everyone bringing 10 photos is brilliant and I would agree that the invitation should specify a penalty for anyone who shows up without photos. There are a number of avid photographers that always show up to the local hockey games. Maybe an end of season party where everyone brings their best photos and invite the team as well. We'll keep you all posted!

Smoke machines for the most part use dry ice and water to geberate the smoke...basically carbon dioxide. Are you trying to penetrate the fog or trying to capture elements of it? Hoping someone out there will be able to advise
