Radioman,

I am not going to engage you in your attempt to blow smoke up my a$$. You have been a member here for a year, and you want me and others to believe that you had no idea that you were not to modify the image of another without their expressed permission? This is a rule for all of UHH.

By you own words, you used Photoshop to do a hack job on my image. Photoshop is not a program that one has and uses that is as uninformed as you claim to be. Put simply, if you can use Photoshop, you can figure out how to post your own topic and/or find the rules which are listed as the first item in just about every forum.

You are exactly what I said, and your lame excuses now only make you look even worse. Your last sentence was very predictable. You cheat, you steal, you lie, and then you point your finger back at me for being un-christain for calling you on your actions. I didn't report your actions to the site admin.; however, be advised that I will now make the site admin. aware of your actions. Being christain does not mean I allow someone to walk all over me with their bad conduct and lies.

I am not going to take long to reply to this, just my comments on some of your statements.

"you want me and others to believe that you had no idea that you were not to modify the image of another without their expressed permission?"

I do not see anything about this in the rules: This is what I DO see:

- Do not post images owned/authored by others without their permission.

I did NOT post an image owned by others - I sent YOUR image back to YOU.

Making changes and sending back to the owner has been done many times by others. e.g. recovering images from very old photographs - I have done this, possibly twice.

Regarding making changes using Photoshop:

'sinatraman', the person looking after this "Christian Photography Group", had a photograph of a baptism, with an unwanted face by the side of the minister. I cleaned the head and background for him - and it was appreciated, not condemned along with a warning about breaking forum rules.

I did not claim to be uninformed about Photoshop. I have been using it since the 1970's. but initially NOT for photographs. I used the layers capability back then for printed circuit boards.

Regarding "posting my own topic". Until recently, I only looked at the 'latest digest' and posted comments etc. to some. The baptismal photo from Sinatraman was one of them. I am not particulally interested in posting any new topic.

I am 'uninformed' about all the various groups because I have been quite happy to stay with the variety of topics in the 'latest digest'. I am not lying -- you can easily check the record and confirm this for yourself.

The 'Christian Photography group' is the first one that I thought I would like to join, but it is clear that I am not welcome. Your statement "You cheat, you steal, you lie," makes this very clear. What did I cheat at? What did I steal? What lies did I tell??

re: "I didn't report your actions to the site admin.; however, be advised that I will now make the site admin. aware of your actions".

Please do - and at the same time perhaps you would request them to take me off the mailing list -- and also report it to sinatraman. This email from a 'Christian Photography Group' is the last straw.

p.s. I am not breaking this UHH rule:

"Threatening or hinting that you'll leave the forum unless I do something you want"

as I don't want you to do anything at all.

I almost don't know where to begin. First of all Revelation 22:1 speaks of a flowing river, and it was my goal to show just that. You on the other hand, in a self-centered project of your own, have taken the motion and flow away and traded it for a still pond, likely full of bugs. . .using my image and art, without my permission. Shame on you.

Furthermore, what you did to my image was nothing short of a hack job. Your work at adding a so-called reflection is very poorly attempted.

We have rules here at UHH, and you have been a member long enough to know these rules. You do not edit another member's art/photography without express permission. Also, it is not permitted to hi-jack another member's thread, which you have also done here.

This is a Christian forum with stated rules and guidelines, and you sir are a cheap hack thief. After much thought, I determined that it would be very wrong of me not to address your actions. Might I suggest that you start your own topics in the future, using your own images, to play out your personal expressions, and please leave mine alone.

HI,

I may have been a member 'long enough' but not long enough to know how to find the 'Christian Forum', except by chance.

I have not read the rules of this 'Christian forum' as I have not found them to read. I had no idea that I was hi-jacking anything and I apologize for using your picture. I thought the concept of changing a road into a lake or a water surface was interesting, and as I mentioned, it was a first attempt - certainly not advanced enough to include bugs.

Rev 22:1 does read "a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal"

I also apologize for leaving one of my photographs in the forum. I had no idea that it was something 'private'. It is one of my 'images' ( that does have a bug) - but with respect to 'starting my own topic/forum - I have no idea of how. At my age I find the structure of UHH rather confusing. I thought that this was a Christian Forum not a colosseum of people attacking each other.

Hi Mooseeyes,

While no where near as artistic as your very nice picture, I had a play around with the water in your 'painted top' using Photoshop and came up with this first attempt at reflection in water.

Right now, I am looking for nice 'cloud/sky' formations to photograph to use as backgrounds.

God designed them for each other

Hi magicray - my apologies: you are not the only one who has finger problems.

While I DID write:

"While you are correct, the word 'mute' does not fit" somehow the word 'not' got added. What I intended to write was:

"While you are correct, the word 'mute' does fit".

i.e. both 'moot' and 'mute' can be used, even though it gives a slightly different way of expressing what you were saying.

One of the problems with the editor on Mac OSX is that it tends to change a word and/or spelling to what it 'thinks' you should be using. Most of the time I catch these changes - sometimes I don't.

Perhaps I should avoid the 'General Chit-Chat (non-photography talk) and stick to an occasional comment in the Photography discussions'.

I did not read all your reply - however from the size, it seems that I have really upset you, so again my apologies - and perhaps it would be better if I leave UHH rather than cause you to.

British number plates belong to the vehicle - and among other things, gives the date: On the truck, the last letter is H and this identifies it as being licensed between August 1st 1969 and July 31st 1970.

This means that the photograph cannot be previous to Aug 1st 1969

A recent study (referenced below) shows that if McDonald's doubled the salary of every employee, including its CEO, the price of a Big Mac would increase by 68 cents. Would you be willing to pay 68 cents more for your Big Mac to guarantee that every McDonald's employee was making a living wage?

The concept of a 'minimum wage' was to ensure that everyone could earn enough to live on. It probably was at one time, but has not kept up with inflation. A problem with the low minimum wage here in Canada is that in many cases, people living on welfare have a higher effective income than they would get from a 'minimum wage' job.

I've had problems living in AZ with my inkjet printer (Canon MX 310). Even if I print something daily, the nozzles clog from the arid climate. I found a solution.

I took an 8 oz plastic bottle and placed 2T of Miracle Grow water holding crystals in it. Along one side of the bottle I used a needle to poke around 50 mini holes on about a 1 1/2" strip long way on side of the bottle. I marked "UP" on the side with the holes and filled a tub with water and filled the bottle, let it set overnight to hydrate. This completely filled the bottle with hydrated crystals. With the cap on I place this bottle inside the printer after use with the "UP" word on top. Even in AZ I don't have to top off the bottle with water more than weekly.

Now, even if I don't print for a few days my nozzles don't dry out and clog.

A good idea. I have one warning, on a different project a container of these crystals began to smell - bacteria/fungus had started growing in it. It may not be a problem where you live but it is something to be aware of.

[quote=rpavich]Sometimes on this forum and elsewhere, people think that Christians are "better" than they are...i.e. that they think that they don't do wrong things. We know that nothing could be further from the truth...so I thought I'd post two quotes that I thought were relevant:

***********************

1.) Quote:"...you contribute nothing to your salvation but the sin that made it necessary" (Charles Spurgeon)

2.) Quote: "If any man thinks ill of you do not be angry with him for you are worse than he thinks you to be...." (Charles Spurgeon)

Quotations, can sound 'good' but are often misleading.

Quote 1.) Salvation is an interactive process so we do have a part to play.

Read John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

While we contribute nothing to the payment for sin, we DO contribute in the sense of believing and accepting.

Quote 2.)

The first part: "If any man thinks ill of you do not be angry with him" is in line with the command Jesus gave that we forgive even our enemy.

The second part: " for you are worse than he thinks you to be." is NOT a valid reason. It is also illogical - making a decision based on what you THINK the other person believes.

When God asks us to love, there are no limiting conditions. We cannot say to God that we did not love XXX because YYYYYY

Hi Esther,
You can also find people in different places at the same time. This is one reason there so many people in the picture.
There are also people with legs but no bodies and bodies with no legs.

I have booked on as a passenger on a B-25 (aka Grumpy) that will be at a local air show in August/13. I lucked into the seat beside the pilot! Photos are allowed. I have a Sony A-77 and am looking for some advice about what lenses to take with me. The choices are (all Sony lenses): 18-70 kit, 75-300 zoom, 70-200 tele +/- 2x teleconverter, 20mm wide angle, 16 mm fisheye.

any thoughts, suggestions, warning, etc. will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance...Carter

Hi, If the B-25 is anything like a Lancaster, there will be very little elbow room - and a lot of vibration. I would not dream of trying to change a lens - or having a bag by my feet. I agree with the others that a wide angle lens is best

I do recommend that you try and take some interior pictures while the B-25 is on the ground and does not have the engines running. ( before or after the show)

I just watched the 1hr 40 min interview with Trey Ratcliff, discussing his switch from Nikon D800 to Sony NEX-7. I'd like to hear what UHH members think about their NEX-7, and what lenses they use.

I am a senior in my late 70's. While your question is about the NEX-7, my experience with the NEX-5 may be pertinent:

In 2011 I bought a Sony NEX-5 because it was small and light. It took some very nice photographs, comparable with the Nikon my son had at that time. There were only two lens available - with the promise of a third some time in the future.

While it was a good 'point and shoot' camera, I was having problems wading through the menu's to find the settings I wanted to use. Henrys Camera has a camera show in Toronto every year that I go to with with my son. I went to the Sony Camera stand to ask some questions and get some help - but was told by their 'professional' that they could not really help me as it was a 'consumer level' camera. Hmmm

The following week I went back to the camera store and traded it in for a Nikon D5100. ( reason for choosing Nikon over Canon!! My son and I can share lens, flash etc. )

2004 to 2013 is not 100 years.
