If you are going to use Photoshop Elements, I would definitely start with understanding and learning how to use the Element Organizer included in the program. Here is a good place to start. You really need to have a good image management program and process to enjoy your hobby. That is what the Organizer provides.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Q86SLLR?pf_rd_r=APC3QDYAS4KTE1EJHZD9&pf_rd_p=9d9090dd-8b99-4ac3-b4a9-90a1db2ef53b&pd_rd_r=b1bb1077-a062-4048-b15b-3bc503a2eb23&pd_rd_w=Wz7G0&pd_rd_wg=tpVSq&ref_=pd_gw_unk

It was written for PSE 2021 but is still an excellent source for learning PSE 2022, since the program is only updated incrementally each year.

At some point in the future, if you ever want to move up to the more sophisticated and complex program Lightroom CC, it has a command that will convert your Elements Catalog to Lightroom.

I have no problem with Windows 11 reading & displaying my Canon R5 .CR3 RAW files.

Thank you all for your comments and ideas. I had not tried most of them. I do have a cable and have used it for small number of photos. I typically shoot a couple of hundred photos on during a softball tournament, the slow speed would be a killer, I think.

Other ideas I had not tried yet and may need to.

A special thanks goes to therwol for spending time to go deeper into Amazon - something I should have done.

But do they have a slot for a CFexpress card? That is the issue?

That being the case - USB 3.1 reader is not backward compatible to my PC's USB 3.0 - is there another reader that is compatible that is also compatible with my memory card?

I have a Canon R5. I bought and used a 128 GB CFexpress Type B card. I also bought a Hoodman CFexpress card reader. But connecting it to my 1-1/2 old AMD RYZEN 5 desktop, Windows 11 does not recognize it. However, it is recognizable by my newer MSI GS76 Stealth laptop.

My RYZEN has 3.0 USB ports. The Hoodman says it is to be used with USB 3.1 interfaces. I would think that it would be downward compatible, but I guess I am wrong.

My question is how to get the memory readable by me RYZEN computer, a different card reader, adding USB 3.1 ports to my RYZEN, or what?

Thanks in advance.

The key is clicking on the Options button in the upper right side of the grid. Playing with the choices there, you can display results both tags (And) or you can display the results of either Tag (OR). That is if the photo is tagged with either of the Tags you selected.

In the figure two people, Lucy and Paige have their name tag checked. The option chosen was Show Best Results. The result is all of the photos where both Paige and Lucy are present are displayed.

The ongoing subscription updates should automatically import all your existing images from the old and current LRCAT file into the newly created LRCAT file. Either something is wrong, or the edits you're 'missing' were not in the current LRCAT file at the time of the software update such that they were not automatically migrated into the new LRCAT file.

You probably should do some LRCAT maintenance, getting all your images consolidated so this issue is either resolved or positioned for detailed investigation at your next software update. Therefore, consider the following steps:

1. Generate a list of the names and modification dates of all LRCAT files you now have in your \Lightroom folder.

2. Determine your current and active LRCAT file.

3. Consider exiting from the LR software and renaming that current LRCAT file to a clear identification name as an 'identifier' of which file is the 'master' as of March-2022, example" Lightroom Catalog-v11-Mar-2022.LRCAT".

4. Then, merge the contents from your 'work list' created in step one into this master / current LRCAT. You can simply double-click the 'master' LRCAT file to have the LR software open with that file as the current catalog. Then, use: File / Import from another Catalog. Navigate to the first and oldest-mod-date LRCAT from your list and select that LRCAT as the import "source". The LR software will analyze the source catalog and give you an option to import just the missing images or to stack (virtual copy) existing images over the same images in your current LRCAT. Assuming all your images are in their 'proper' position on disk, just import the Develop settings and metadata without moving any image files. When processed, check-off that file from your work-list and continue with the next candidate LRCAT.

5. When all the LRCAT files are processed / merged, move those older LRCAT files to your back-up storage, in case you ever need to revisit. But technically, all those files are now merged into your single master / current LRCAT, and the old LRCAT files are now redundant. You'll have them on your recovery media, but never should need them again.

6. When the next major LR update occurs, Adobe will likely add a new version number into the new LRCAT file. It should be easy to recognize that software update from how it adds maybe a v12 to your Mar-2022 name at some future date, maybe 2023. But, all the merge data should automatically move into that new LRCAT file. If not, you have an opportunity to discuss with Adobe technical support that obvious issue, at that future date, based on two easy to identify and analyze LRCAT files.
The ongoing subscription updates should automatica... (show quote)

Referring to Step 3 above I have a desire to move and rename my LR Classic Catalog. Do I have to rename all of the folders within the top level folders (Helper, Previews, etc), and the LRCAT file itself, or can I just move and rename the folder that has the same name of the Catalog that contains the others mentioned?

If you live in Southern CA, you may want to check out the South Bay Camera Club in Torrance, CA. https://sbccphoto.org/

Actually, you don't really have to live that close. We have been meeting via Zoom since the pandemic started and will incorporate a hybrid Zoom model when we begin to meet live again. Our presenter this month lives in France.

I created a short-cut to the "PSE.exe" so I can launch the editor directly and skip the first window.

But, in LR, I import my photos and first do some keywording before doing any editing. I have a LR catalog of 90,000+ images that I can find on a moment's notice in several different approaches based on how I'm 'thinking' about the image. Don't give up on the Organizer without spending some time understanding what it can do for you.

For my PSE10 install, the short-cut points to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe"

Update to your current version, if you find the short-cut idea useful.

Advice I often give to Elements users is to upgrade every other year. The current version PSE 2022 offers several features that are not present in PSE 15.

To get a feel for this, you may want to check out the link below, which covers the annual evolution from PSE 11 through PSE 2022. You will have to do some zooming/scrolling to read the table.

Yes, to the original poster's question. But I will check out the drone forum. I have a Mavic Pro and before that a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+.

I am a pretty conservative flyer, and thus miss out on a many photo and video ops, but I am getting braver. :-)
