Anybody else interested in a section on aerial photography? This is a picture of my neighborhood.

I am seriously considering a drone. Not sure if I will really get much use out of one, though.

I have several favorite cameras. But my 6 month old drone is getting a lot of use because of the uniqueness of images I can capture.

Mine is so small and quiet that, to most people, it really appears like a toy. It’s not threatening, there’s no grinding buzz to tick people off… and, in my limited contact with bystanders, it doesn’t trouble people. Most want to know what it is and how it works.

So far, my favorite photos are from at between 100 and 200 feet. The legal limit in most places is 400 feet. It takes seconds to get above 50 feet and, once there, nobody can hear it.

I, too, have been considering a drone. Some of my main hesitations include:
1. Not being allowed to use a drone in the National Parks where I do most of my photography. Also restrictions on its use in many other areas where I would consider its use.
2. DJI being the most affordable and capable drone for a reasonable photo quality but there are concerns about possible embedded Chinese spyware and also a mention of government restrictions on its use. The new Sony one sounds great but it's $10K
3. Weather use limitations where I would be adding it to my already over packed backpack and possibly not being able to use at all during a photo shoot.

A well built drone can fly in a lot of wind, as for myself anything above 20 to 30kts flyable. The caveat here is you had better be highly experienced r/c pilot to do so.

DJI Mini 2. It is at a "sweet spot" of quality images, ease of flying and cost. More money will get a bigger sensor and some sophisticated object avoidance.

Most seem to think of drones as flying video cameras. I do video, but I'm having more fun right now with photos. I'm printing at 13x19 with pleasing results.

A first surprise for me was ease of flying. It simple stops and stays put when you remove your thumbs from the sticks. It has auto (or manual) takeoff and land functions.

Could you post some images from your DJI Mini 2? Thanks.

I also have a DJI Mini 2. I love flying it as do the others. Here are a couple photos from it.
