check out the Steve Perry link listed below. One thing to do for sure is to get your library set up correctly at the very beginning so you have an easy to follow and easy to find way to locate your photos.

It is a good idea to get opinions from experienced travelers. I can only give my advice from five trips I have made to Botswana. If you are coming from the East Coast of the US, from the Washington DC area there are several flights that are very accommodating to South Africa. Eighteen hours to Joburg, SA with an overnight there and then 2-hour flight to Maun Botswana. The Okovango Delta and the Moremi Game Reserve provide everything you could want in terms of game and bird viewing. It is not the Kenyan "migration" that everyone has heard about (and is viewed from a distance with high power lenses) but a very different and more intimate closeup experience with smaller groups of game and birds. You will see birds, elephants, giraffe, many species of cats, many species of antelope, crocs and tons of other animals at unbelievably close distances. (We watched a mating pair of leopards in a tree for two hours from 20 feet.) In short, it is a photo extravaganza for an aspiring nature photographer. You could go to my Instagram page for a few of the shots that I took last year in the Moremi Reserve. (Look at jerrystravel in Instagram.) For some solid travel advice so to how to fit your budget contact Betsy Younkins at bjadventures@bjadventures.net. this could be the trip of a lifetime if you plan it well. Good luck.

Thanks. That sounds way beyond my expertise. I have never partitioned a card and am not sure how to go about it. I just ordered 2 16GB cards (of the kind that do work in my D200) on Amazon, so that should take care of the issue for me. I appreciate your help. Jerry

Thanks to everyone. I will just stick with the smaller cards that do work just fine. It is my back-up camera anyway. I appreciate the helpl

I put a new Lexar 64GB CF memory card in my D200, formatted it, and it registers as "FULL" in the control panel. The shutter release button will not actuate and it also flashes an "r00" message in the counter on the control panel. The camera still works with my older Sandisk 16GB cards but not the new larger cards. Is it possible that the new cards are just not compatable with the camera? The cards work fine in my D810 but not int he older D200. Any ideas or suggestions about what is going on? Thanks

Over the years, I have used both original equipment and the off brands and the only one I ever had fail was a Nikon OEM for my D810. First time I have ever had a problem with a charger. I was in the middle of China and had to husband my two partially charged batteries until I got to Shanghai and found a replacement. I won't go anywhere again without two chargers--just like i wouldn't go without extra batteries. I have had good luck with off-brand chargers.

Also, make sure you understand the difference between a voltage converter and a simple plug adapter. Most chargers can do the voltage conversion but not all. And I have now gotten a converter that also have USB ports for flexibility and convenience.

Hope you have a fabulous trip.

I fully agree with the NEST recommendation. I bought one from Montana Shooter with quick service and a good price. It is one of the best values on the market. JM

I am having a similar problem with my toshiba drive. How do you set for incremental v. full back up? when setting it up i didn't see any choice of one or the other. I assumed it would be incremental. thanks

I have an unused Pelican 182 Rolling Backpack. It will hold everything you need and it has a detachable backpack on the front. sold new for $369 but now discontinued. I was just thinking that i need to get rid of it. Any interest? See link below.

Chuck,it is not as easy as some will make you think. I did just that several years ago (earlier versions) and still have a mess on my hands. You may be organized enough already in PSE but i was not and it was quite frustrating. I would suggest getting a very competent LR user to help and make sure you do it correctly. Good luck.

You have outlined two distinct projects in the same shot. Both of these can be daunting if you have not done them before. And working in the dark can be frustrating even if you think you are well organized. I suggest you not let that one night be your first time doing these two projects. If you have not painted by light before, do a mock up of the scene you expect to be shooting. Use a tree, a telephone pole or just construct something to paint on a dark night. Get used to the technique and make some of the beginner mistakes in your own back yard first, and see what your pictures look like. I suggest using flashlights with focused beams, diffused beams and even colors if you have that capability. You will surprise yourself with the way they look. Be sure and post the results for us to see. Good Luck.
