It's been sticky for a while...not always.

Is there anyone who has had a sticky switch on their Nikon D7000? It is requires a bit of force to turn it on. Any ideas as to how I could loosen it up? I hope I don't have to send it to Rick for repair.

Thanks everybody,

Rich

Short of an being ISF trained technician, you can calibrate TV's to an extent. An ISF tech can access modes and menus that most people can't. In addition, you need expensive calibration equipment to do it properly. As already mentioned, turn off all auto settings such as black level and skin tones, etc. There are several ways you can adjust the contrast, brightness, color, tint and sharpness. On some DVD's, there is what is called THX Optimizer. This will give you some test patterns to make the adjustments I mentioned. The drawback is that in order to adjust the color and tint correctly, you need a blue filter to look through while making adjustments. This is where a dedicated calibration DVD comes in. Two that come to mind are Avia by a company called Ovation Software and another called Video Essentials. I personally have not used V.E. but I have used Avia. It comes with red, green and blue filters. Avia not only has video test patterns but many audio test tones for setting up your surround sound system such as wideband pink noise, speaker identification, phase and subwoofer set up. You will need a decibel level meter to calibrate audio level accurately. On some sets I have calibrated, it has made a subtle difference and on others the improvement has been dramatic. Sometimes you can do an internet search for your particular make and model to see if there is a professional review. Sometimes the reviewer is an ISF tech and lists the settings he or she used in the testing of that set. I hope that helps.

What did you do to fix it Sarge69?

Did you send it in or do it yourself?

I am very interested in this flash unit so I will be very interested to hear what other owners have to say about it.

SueMac is correct but let me add something. Once you have finished your slide show in iMovie, click on "share", "export movie". Choose "export to desktop", hit "export". Once your movie is on your desktop (this will take quite some time depending on how long the movie is) you can drag it to a flash drive OR right click on your movie and select "Burn movie to disk". Insert a CD or DVD that has enough space on it and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps,

Why are Nikon DSLR's so much better than canon? Those who use Nikon are real photographers. Is it because a Nikon looks like a purposeful instrument whereas a canon camera reminds one more of a potato? Canon always seems to play second fiddle.

When I decided to get a DSLR, I really had no bias towards Canon or Nikon. I had owned a Canon T-50 film camera at one point (until my ex-wife somehow got it stolen) and I really liked that camera. I went into a Ritz/Wolf camera shop to directly compare the new Nikon D70 (which I still have) against I believe was a Canon Rebel model. I took some time and shot with both, fiddled with the knobs and buttons, etc. I found that I preferred the Nikon based on how it felt in my hands, the speed at which it was ready to fire after turning it on and the focusing speed. In my opinion at the time, the Nikon won out. Since I had purchased a zoom with it, I felt I needed to stay with Nikon and have since picked up the D7000 and couldn't be happier with it. Just need to upgrade my lenses.

It's simply personal preference.

This photo was taken at 1/200th of a second and you dont see much travel of the flakes. If you can shoot at 1/100th or 1/50th you would get more streaking. Experiment in that 1/100th of a secnd or slower.

I have tried everything. How do you take a picture where you can see the snow falling?

Good photograph! I like this a lot better than those with streaks.

No streaks, eh? Here is the same view I posted earlier with a faster shutter speed.

Jennifer Hudson's rendition of American the Beautiful was a B+, but nothing, and I mean nothing, beats the A+++ version of Ray Charles. (AND WHY ISN'T THIS SONG OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM?)

Alicia Keys version of the Star Spangled Banner didn't do anything for me. Too slow, too much vocal flourish at the end, and it seemed like she changed at least part of it to a minor key. JUST SING THE SONG! I give it a C.

Beyonce's half time performance was high energy dance entertainment. Watching her strut almost made me ignore the fact that I can't stand her music. C+

As for the game, it got interesting after the blackout, but I agree with the previous person who complained about all of the self-congratulation every time somebody made a tackle or caught a pass. I think I'll go to work tomorrow and do the same thing--jump into some ridiculous dance everytime I do something right. Wonder how long before I'm fired?
Jennifer Hudson's rendition of American the Beaut... (show quote)

Huey Lewis and the News does a very nice a cappella version of our National Anthem.
