Is it just me, or did Alicia Keys performance of the "Star-Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl seem to be all about HER?
Her slow and plodding rubato tempo prevented the crowd from singing along (some people like to do that!), highlighted by the sideline closeups of Ray Lewis' frustrated attempt to do so. I think it would have been far more tasteful if she'd played a steady, singably accessible version, and she should've shown off her formidable piano skills instead of trying to dazzle us with vocal flourishes (which other singers do better anyway).
I think Jennifer Hudson's lead-in rendition of "America the Beautiful" had a far more genuine feel to it, though entirely predictable...
oh, sorry, I know you guys are busy watching Beyonce's slut posse about now... at least she's keeping the designers of sexy leather stagewear in business...
I liked the anthem...halftime sucked.

At least she didn't fall out of the thing. I agree....not my idea of a role model for girls.
Halftime was bad. I would like to see some singing, but I am an old fart (I sound just like my dad). I think the lights are back on.
BY.
I didn't care for Anthem, I with you ...just sing it at the right speed. It's not like her career needs a boost.
I was hopin for another half time malfuntion.

That was another half time malfunction.
I still think Whitney Houston's rendition of the national anthem was the best ever!

I agree. Over 7 million views on youtube.
I did not care for the National Anthem, especially the ending. It sounded like it was a vocal exercise without much care for how the original version goes.
I think that ALL of the performers who sing the Anthem are doing it to plug themselves...The Anthem to me has 2 parts. One to let everyone sing along with it, and two to make one actually FEEL something. This rendition had neither. It had no feeling ...I say bring back the big bands to perform the song like in the old days....Take a kid from the school systems across the country, bring them together for one rehearsal and the performance. Have the jets fly overhead....I dont care about the halftime show and the commercials are getting more stupid and are an insult to a normal person's intelligence......
I thought that the half-time show was great. The talents of Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson are just fantastic. They are at the top of their game. I suppose some would have preferred Glenn miller and his Orchestra at half-time. It's 2013. I'm sure that some people also think it was a terrible game because the Ravens won and Joe Flacco was named Super Bowl MVP. They were also in New Orleans where the entertainment is a little different from other parts of the country. Go Ravens !!!
I didn't care for the halftime show, but for me it is because I am jealous and can't move like that. LOL
The Budweiser commercial was good, but IMHO the Dodge Ram one should have taken top honors. But, that is coming from a farm gal.
I thought the Sandy Hook kids did a great job then Jennifer Hudson ruined hat one. I also thought Alicia did a darned good job... until she started the vocal flourishes at the end adding onto the song after she reached the end of it. Went from stellar to cellar at that point for me.
