I have also used both Shutterfly and Snap Fish with mixed results. Photo books from both were very good quality and the photos were printed beautifully - I only use matte or luster finish. I discontinued using Shutterfly because of difficulty uploading a large number of photos for my last book. Of course, I think Blurb prints the ultimate book, but they are expensive. I had my Christmas cards done at Snap fish, using their better quality card stock and again, in a matte finish. They seemed to have a better selection of designs than Shutterfly. Now, prints have been a different story - neither company printed satisfactorily! When I need prints quickly and quality is not a major issue, I use Costco, and I do turn off the auto correct feature which makes a difference in the results. For professional work, I have good
results with Adaroma. They recommend that you let them adjust color as needed and I always let them. I have not calibrated my computer to their printers so I have learned to trust them. The prints are always great. The canvas prints look realistic and are much better than other companies advertising on Groupon, etc. and their metal prints are beautiful. Their technicians seem to personally monitor the jobs assigned to them and they even have their name listed on the packing sheets, so if the work is unsatisfactory, you have a name to complain to. Their pricing is somewhat higher than Shutterfly and Snapfish, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Thanks, everyone, for the insight into my SB 900 speed light issue. It was good to hear that I am not alone with the problem and sad to hear that the unit has a bad reputation for over heating. The link to the video of the light test was appreciated. Guess the purchase of an SB910 will be in my future (ugh!). I am hoping that I can still use the SB900, on lower power, on a light stand, as part of my set up when extra lighting would be effective. I have been wanting to expand my lighting possibilities, so this will push me to do it, and the shooting would be slower paced in that type of setting. Thanks!

I am experiencing trouble with my Nikon SB -900 Speed Light that I use on my Nikon D700. I bought it new three years ago and have not used it excessively. It worked fine until recently when now it seems to overheat about fifteen minutes into a photo shoot. I turn it off for several minutes and it cools down for a few more shots, but then soon heats up again. I certainly don't want to damage the camera. I always use good quality lithium batteries in the Speed Light which last quite a while. This is not a good situation when I am photographing an event or even during a portrait shoot. The manual indicates that thermal cut-out will occur, but this seems to be happening too often. Is this normal? Thanks in advance for the fantastic advice provided on this forum. You guys are awesome.

Adorama did a metal print of a sunset for me. Brilliant yellow and orange colors against a blue sky, also reflected in the blue water. Silhouetted trees frame it. Great job and hanging in my kitchen. Love it! Adorama also, does great canvas prints, true to color.

I have a sunset photo on metal printed by Adorama. It is beautiful and the colors are brilliant. It came ready to hang with the raised structure on the back. I agree that your choice of photo should have some bright colors because the shiny metal finish will make it pop!

My husband and I did an Alaska cruise last August. I took my Nikon D700 with a Nikon 24-70 2.8 and a Nikon 70-200 2.8. I agree with others that it is difficult to carry a lot of gear when going on the tours. Not much room and time to be changing lenses and setting up tripod. Our ship sailed in close to the Hubbard Glacier for great shots from the deck. Plan ahead to get a good spot for viewing and photographing. Tour to Mendenhall Glacier also provided great photo opportunities. We also did the five day land tour prior to the cruise and had opportunities to photograph Mt. McKinley from several different angles and distances. Wow! I was also fortunate to get a shot of a whale breeching when we took a whale watching tour out of Icy Straits. Glad you are spending time in the Canadian Rockies. Some of my best pics were taken while on a tour to the Yukon. We had only one day of rain in our twelve day trip so we were very lucky. Use your iPad to write a journal of what you do each day. So much to remember. I made a beautiful book of our trip using Blurb on line. They did an amazing job with my photos and notes from my journal. Enjoy your trip. It will be fabulous!

Beautiful! You have captured the glory of fall. I was there in mid August and took many beautiful pictures so it is a treat to see the landscape now in fall colors.

I have also been to Rehoboth and Chincoteague. Rehoboth, although smaller, is just a few miles up the road from OC. Similar traffic and prices, but no tax in Deleware. Don' t know too much about the hotels there. A very nice one right on the ocean with a New England look. Have always wanted to stay there, but never have. More motels out on the main highway. More residential neighborhoods with cottages for rent.

Chincoteague seems more laid back. We stayed in a LOVELY Comfort Inn there, on the water. Beaches are along the highway and are maintained by the state park system. Less commercialized.
Good luck in your search and enjoy your trip where ever you decide to go.

Have gone there pretty much every summer for thirty years for our family vacation since it is only a two hour drive. It is very crowded and EVERYTHING is expensive for what it is. Very honky-tonk, but several nice restaurants. Most people rent a condo for a week. We paid $1700 for a one bedroom condo ocean front at the Golden Sands for a week in July. With all the taxes and fees, it was over two grand when all was done. As for hotels, I like the NEW Holiday Inn on the ocean. There is a nice Quality Inn on the ocean with a pretty indoor tropical atrium, pools and hot tubs that is also good. Best prices are probably on the bay side, however, there are many older, small private hotels and appartment rentals a block or so off the boardwalk down toward the southern end of town that are probably cheaper, depending on what you are looking for. With the slow economy, most places will have vacancies. Beach will be very crowded, and heavy traffic on main roads. Try to go mid week as traffic backups on weekends getting there can be miserable. Southern beaches are better, but if you wait till September or early October, the crowds are smaller and weather is generally nice, making OC a nice early fall get-away destination.

Would also like to hear more about setting a custom white balance using a Gary Fong dome.

Fabulous place for family photos. We had a mini reunion there last summer. Twenty-two of us. Spent one entire evening photographing them on the beach. The golden glow of the sunset created great light. Told them all to dress in white shirts and tan shorts or pants. Photos were beautiful with the white sand and the blue water in the background. Take a tripod so,you can mount your camera and be in a few shots, too. Several families used their photos on their Christmas Cards. Enjoy this beautiful beach.

I think it is. I used it last weekend to take photos of an anniversary celebration at church. Could zoom in on individuals from a good distance with no flash and still sharp focus. Tripod helped. Probably not enough zoom for distant wildlife but I managed to get a pretty good shot of a large bird in flight that was fairly close. The lens did well with panning. Were you successful in returning your other lens?

Would that be Cheat Lake? Coopers Rocks is beautiful. You will get fantastic photos there in every season but autumn is spectacular. Go WVU Mountaineers!
