Have any of you tried the metal Prints from Adorama? (Of course you have.) I like the idea, but I'd have a tough time picking out an image to have printed that way. Any comments on them?

Thanks. I'll keep waiting to take that perfect picture.

I just got a few metal prints back from Adorama and they are beautiful. The had a 30% off sale and I had several printed. One is of a building facade that is very colorful and it really made a difference.

I think they have a 30% sale going on now, but I'm in no rush. I've got to wait till I get an appropriate picture, which could take quite a while.

I've not purchased metal prints from Adorama. I have purchased a number of them from Bay Photo. A copy of this in metal at 30" x 20" is hanging in my office, and the metal really makes it "pop".

Hi Jerry,
Yes I tried this one (5x7) and it came out rather nice, just like a print actually.
I tried them when they first introduced their metal prints. It was an image of a classic car with a lot of specular lighting. At that time they had 3 finishes and I chose one that sounded like it would bring out the best features in the image. Turned out to be overkill so I let them know that it would be good to expand on their description of the options. Have not checked back lately. Also, the hanging plate did not hold and the image fell to the floor and bent. The result is that I have an unusable metal print. I do like the idea of printing on metal and will try again at some point once I have an image that screams to be finished on metal.

That's my problem - settling on an image that's good enough. That's why I've never gotten a tattoo - can't make up my mind.

I had been shooting that red barn as part of a "four seasons" series. The shot with that reflection in the river was just an accident, and I didn't even realize it was there when I took it. It was just a shot that I recognized as a metal print opportunity after the fact.
Bay Photo also has multiple finishes for its metal print. I ordered one of each in a 4x6 before ordering the large one for my wall. I hung each of the 4x6's on the same wall so I could see the effect of the actual lighting on the finish before choosing for the full size one.
I ordered a similar set of 4x6's of another image for the same reason, and realized that that image didn't work well in metal.
Since then, I've learned which images are likely to work well and which are not (at least to my eye). I still order the set of 4x6's before having a large one made.

Adorama produced this one. I was very satisfied with the results.
I had a rose done on metal....through Bay Photo and it is beautiful. Bay Photo is a little more expensive, however, top notch!

Jerry: I have not had one printed by AdoramaPix but I have had one done my Bay Photo. Everyone that comes over to the house is fascinated by it. I have sold 6 of just because I have one hanging and they can see it. The one I had printed is just one metal print. I am getting ready to do another that will be one photo over 7 pcs of metal.
