It's hard to photograph the sunrise here where I live...there are no amazing beaches for the sun to come up over...there are more hills here than Deer!...there just isn't a flat place in the whole state!

So it's really hard to figure out how to get a good sunrise...

I went to a local lake this morning and there was a lot of mist hanging over it...so i set up the tripod on a dock and gave it a shot.

I took about 15 or 20 shots and 3 came out well enough to not be embarrassed about.

Here is the best of the bunch. I tried to include some foreground interest in the very large cattails.

This is my first shots with my new 5D MKII using a small aperture and I had a LOT of sensor dust!! I must have cloned out about 20 large spots.

Very nice photo. I think that at times we may all be envious of where other people live for the photo opportunities that are present, beaches, mountains and the like. I think that one of the benefits of this site is to challenge each of us to see what is available to us and make the most of it.

You image looks great!!!

You can also photograph what the sun lights up once it has risen. Mountains, buildings, hillsides, etc.

I agree with Jimber.
Also...
Don't apologize for where you live. Instead go out and show us what is beautiful and unique about where you live. Water and a flat horizon aren't the only type of sunrise picture. They are just ingredients in one type of sunrise picture. Maybe you have hills and cool looking clouds that reflect the rising sun's light or filter it in such a way that you get rays of light streaming through the clouds.

I was lamenting the lack of great photographic subjects where I live too. Funny how we often don't see/appreciate what's around us. -- Cocoa Beach, FL isn't bad! Lot's fo cool stuff nearby... somehow I feel I need to go to mountains. Funny how we are. Love the picture! Beautiful color and the reflection is spectacular.
