Can any of you Lightroom geniuses explain to me how to export jpegs to a file on my hard drive so that I can print from that file? and so that I can transfer the jpegs to one of my photo frames (NON WIFI). I am an avid DXO user, but giving Lightroom a try again.

Wow. Several remarks which can be easily be interpreted as disparaging remarks directed at a well meaning photographer or photo editor for no apparent reason other than the person is processing photos with a workflow somewhat different from their own. I sometimes wonder what happened to civility? By the way, we can and should do better interacting with other members.

I really have no problem with Canon limiting who can make RF compatible glass. I suppose that is their right to do so. My problem comes from the fact that Canon did not announce its intention to so do prior to selling the new RF bodies. Had I know that, I would not have chosen Canon. I was lucky enough to get an 85mm RF glass from Rokinon, and a 14mm RF also. Both work very well. I do have three or four Canon RF lenses, and of course, they are good glass as well. So under the current marketing strategy from Canon, one either buys an EF to RF adapter and uses older glass (buy older glass), buys RF glass from Canon, buys older glass from other manufacturers and uses the EF to RF adapter, or decides that it isn't worth shooting Canon any longer and sells it all. Frankly, had Canon been up front about this, instead of the way it was handled, they would have not run into negative publicity from several well respected you tube professional photographer and from amateurs who are upset for not knowing in advance of their purchase. When it comes to Canon (great equipment and expensive) BUYER BEWARE. I am a Canon user, but not getting any deeper in that I already am.

Check out Affinity Photo. Not free, but about $50 and no annual contract!

Affinity has a fairly steep learning curve, as does Gimp. I would recommend neither for a beginner.

Excuse me. What would you call the Canon EOS R6 Mark II? Is that soaking it's customers?

This sounds like an advertisement, not a photography forum topic.

This "upgrade" does not cost anything additional. If you have Nik 5.x, upgrades to it labeled 5.x 1,2,3,etc are covered by the original purchase.

This is Canon saying to in relationship to it's customers, "LET THEM EAT CAKE." I seem to recall a French Queen once said that, and it lead to the French Revolution, and the loss of her head. I am a Canon enthusiast, but Canon needs to do better!

I believe you are talking about the RF100 to 400. I leave mine set to range 2 as I rarely would use it for closer shots.

Basically, the new version fixes some bugs and adds some new cameras and some lenses to optical settings. I have it, and I don't think you will notice any differences. On the other hand, if you have a new camera, say a Canon R6 mkii, you will notice that it is now supported. There are a list of those additions in release notes. Check the URL supplied by Jrhoffman75 in the post just above this one.

I confess that I bought a three small sets of presets during my learning experiences. One thing that I learned is that presets were at best a starting point. Concentrate more on learning your editing skills through practice, reading, and possible watching you tube videos. Presets are a waste of money for the most part!

The on line tutorials put me to sleep. Moreover, they are done with an expert in mind, not someone who is more of a beginner. Ally is okay with her tutorials, but the ones from Affinity just don't get it. Some of the tutorial topics are not basic either. I had Affinity v.1 and I upgraded to Affinity v2 solely because I use the pano, focus stacking etc. type of things. The basic edit is good, but beyond that the learning curve is steep. I currently use DXO for most of my Raw images and sometimes process them further in Nik Collection. When it comes to human portraits, I also use Luminar 4, the newer versions are more expensive and I have not upgraded.

I would not hesitate to upgrade, except I use DXO PL5 Elite, Nik collection, and Affinity Photo 2.
I own all of those, but frankly, if I upgrade two of them every other year, I come out about the same as if I used the Adobe subscription model of LR Classic and Photoshop, and I still need a DAM.

If I did not like DXO, I would switch. Adobe has not jacked up the price as others have done. Adobe does a good job all around.

Canon has made a mistake. Competition improves all that engage in it by encouraging innovation and excellence. Canon being what they are should easily be able to innovate and win competition. I have two Rokinon or Samyang RF lenses with AF, the 14mm and the 85mm. They are sturdy, weatherized, take exceptionally good images, and are a great value when compared to the Canon lenses (non L Glass), which have similar characteristics, are fairly well made and have no weather seal. Come on Canon, do better!
