I've never used a filter either. Just over expose a bit. Just like snow. It's hard to believe how bright white it is there.

Impressive. You don't get a real feel for the scale until you pick out the zip lines With two crazy people. You couldn't pay to do that.

In camera, I use a 32 or 64 gb sd card for daily shooting. I also us a 256 gb card as a backup in the second slot. This card never leaves the camera. The daily cards get removed as needed and are then backed onto a 500GB hard drive that has an sd reader built in. Sadly I don't think this is still made by Western Digital. The used "daily" cards are then stored in a sd card case until I get back home. Once I get everything downloaded to the computer and backed up on the NAS I'll format the "daily " cards and the large backup card and be ready for the next trip. I like this strategy because I always have three copies of my photos while traveling and I don't have to take a laptop with me. This works well for me.

I've used the 24-240 on several vacations now and have been pleased with the results.

All but number 8.
Don't forget that when men buy a new vehicle they have to open the hood for all the other men to stand around and admire the engine.

Thanks for relating your experience. My need for storage, and my initial interest in Mylio, was due to the fact that I do most of my work on a MacBook Pro with a 500MB internal drive. I'm often getting Photoshop errors due to insufficient swap space. I have a WD My Cloud Home, but the performance is poor. What's the performance like on your SSD? Is it direct attach or NAS? Would it be useful for swap space?

The SSD is super fast. It's actually the D drive in a windows PC. This is where I store all data, photos documents etc. My 500GB C drive (also SSD) is for operating system and programs. That being said I know nothing about Mac, but would differently recommend a swap on your hard drive if possible . Last time I swapped I used a hard disk dock to clone my original HDD to an SSD. I also use a 2x4TB NAS for on-site backup. However it's not fast enough over the network to use as a working drive.

Memory is so cheap anymore I finally quit worrying about it. I just bought a Crucial 2TB SSD for $119.00. Considering I have about 400GB worth photo storage on a 1TB HDD (about 40,000 photos) there's probably no way to fill the new SSD before I kick the bucket. I remember buying a 5 MB hard drive for $6,000.00 back in the late 70's.

Agree that "ignorant consumers" could benefit from lessons in economics, capitalism, supply and demand, not to mention the true cost of always seeking the cheapest (in dollars) product and demanding it be delivered today.

But you said the restaurant's 25% price increase since c***d upset you. Are you still giving them your business? If yes, you must find value and/or have accepted reality

Actually the 25% increase from c***d didn't upset me. It was more of an illustration of a scenario where they could have covered the cost of credit card fees. Virtually every restaurant we go to has raised their prices in a similar way. If that upset me, I wouldn't be eating out at all.

I recently had a restaurant, that we went to a lot, post a notice that they would be adding 2.5% to credit card payments. It did upset me because they have also raised their prices 25% since c***d. Credit card fees are a cost of doing business and should be included in the total price of the item.
Imagine a business that charged $2.00 for an omelet and posted a notice that they would be adding 642.56% to the total to cover rent, utilities, salaries, cost of materials, credit card fees, loan payments, taxes, insurance and profit etc. Would you go there? I wouldn't.
On second thought, maybe businesses should try this pricing model so that ignorant consumers can see what goes into the price of goods. Just a thought.

Any "bucket list" adventure requires that you take your camera. Go lite. On a recent trip to Alaska I used a 24-70 lens for 95% of my shots. I did use a 100-400 for some wildlife shots, but that's it. I didn't bother with a tripod or monopod. Have fun, Alaska is fantastic.

If you don't know how/like to "fix" a photo, let JPG do it. If you like to do it yourself, use RAW

I think this sums up the situation nicely. Still, it might be disappointing to miss out on the weekly? daily? JPEG VS RAW post.

Another vote for Aluminyze. I've had a half dozen prints made. All were excellent. I prefer the satin finish as opposed to glossy.
