Congrats on getting back out in the Florida environment. You chose a great location and got some very nice photos. Black Point Drive at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge is a treasure. I've been fortunate to discover and visit there thrice in recent months. I hope you are able to return there soon.

Check the combined weight of your D810 and big lens. For safe support, you might seek a tripod with capacity of at least 2 X the combined weight. Like Manglesphoto wrote, it can be difficult to find a good CF tripod at a low price. I shopped for a long time to get a Feisol CT-3442 at a fair price. In the meantime, you might opt for one of the many affordable aluminum-magnesium tripods that are excellent supports and only slightly heavier. Good fortune with your photo adventures!

I’ve made some very nice images with a Sigma 150-500mm. $425 is a terrific bargain. I have dealt with the seller, Carl, on several occasions. I can vouch for his honesty and meticulous care of his camera and lens gear.

Dalek, Thanks! It is indeed a nice piece of treasure. It’s a bit sad that many young photographers have had little contact with manual focus lenses. This is a rare chance for someone who wants to shoot images with incredible image quality without spending thousands of dollars. Take care! Kevin

Nikon Nikkor 500mm f/4 P IF-ED Manual Focus Lens.
* Superb Nikon engineering and quality.
Great for birds, wildlife, races, sports, astrophotography, surveillance and much more!
* Wide f/4 aperture outperforms many zoom and telephoto lenses.
Lens glass elements (external and internal) are in excellent condition. Flashlight inspection from the front and back shows no haze, fungus, scratches, chips, or other blemishes.
Works like new. Manual focus and aperture rings turn smoothly and easily. Aperture blades are clean and dry.
Exterior barrel and hood show very little wear.
Rear camera mount flange and front filter threads are in very good shape. The lens hood fits securely.
* Includes sturdy Nikon Hard Case, Caps, Strap, and Reversible HK-17 Hood.
* This is an amazing, pristine lens and I hate to let it go. But, my wife is correct that I should downsize my gear. And as I get older, I am not using it enough. I’d really like someone else to enjoy it. You will not be disappointed!

* This lens is large and heavy. Hand-held shooting with it can soon be tiring, so bring a sturdy tripod or monopod.

Everything works well. The auto focus is quick, quiet and smooth. The manual focus ring turns smoothly (not sloppy or stiff) with even resistance (damping). The M/A-M switch moves easily and stays in position.
The lens barrel has no damage or blemish other than a tiny bit of gold paint rubbed off the 1.4 G label.
The camera mount flange and the filter threads are in very good shape. The lens hood fits securely.
