I am looking for a carbon fiber tripod able to hold my D810 w/400mm f 4.0 lens on a Markins ball head: prefer 3 rather than more segments (better stability), fliplocks rather than twist, at least 60" max.height ( to eliminate stooping), excellent condition. Carry bag helpful, not required. Manfrotto makes several, but new ones are costly, even EBay is high for my budget.

I have a Manfrotto 055MF4 Magfiber tripod that I might consider selling. It’s in excellent working condition. But it is a 4 section model. Also cosmetically it has wear because it has been used while backpacking but this does not effect anything functionally. It is constructed of carbon fiber and magnesium with flip locks.Originally is was $600 without a ball head

If it was originally $600, it will now sell for much more than I want to spend, under $200.

Look on KEH https://www.keh.com/shop/search?q=tripods

Unless your budget is unreasonable, you will find something.

No not really. Like I said this one is older I think maybe 2009 and has a little cosmetic wear. I think they normally sell for $200 to $300 depending on whether it has a ball head or not. It’s hard to find this model because most folks dont sell them. If you are not familiar with this model it has some nice features. The center column can be taken out and put in in a different way for a horizontal arm configuration. Also the leg angles adjust so you can get the head very close to the ground. The rubber tips on the legs can be screwed in to reveal spikes if you need them. Anyway if you want it let me know. I could sell it for $200 plus shipping

Check the combined weight of your D810 and big lens. For safe support, you might seek a tripod with capacity of at least 2 X the combined weight. Like Manglesphoto wrote, it can be difficult to find a good CF tripod at a low price. I shopped for a long time to get a Feisol CT-3442 at a fair price. In the meantime, you might opt for one of the many affordable aluminum-magnesium tripods that are excellent supports and only slightly heavier. Good fortune with your photo adventures!

My advice is save some more money and buy the Manfroto new I have been using the one mentioned for years with an Arca Tech ball head.

it’s probably not what you want but I have a Heipi tripod that I bought for a trip.

I bought it because Matt Granger recommended it.
https://www.mattgranger.com/gear-talk/item/1472-the-best-value-carbon-fiber-travel-tripod

It was a kick starter project. It arrived four months late, and I didn’t get to take it on my trip. I knew kickstart was a risk, but I didn’t think they were gonna be four months late.

I did eventually get the product. Quite frankly I don’t like it so you probably wouldn’t like it either. However, the price might be right. I’ll sell it to you for $50 and you pay shipping.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

I have a Manfrotto Befree CF GT with ball head that i would let go. It is brand new still in the box. I never used it because the top clamp is the Manfrotto QR clamp and my L Plates are Arca Swiss. I conversion plate can be purchased for about $50 from Adorama. It comes complete with a padded cary bag. Here is a link to Adorama site for the same tripod new at $469. https://www.adorama.com/bgmkbfrtc4gt.html#main-product-tabs
I would let it go for $250. Its height is 63” with center column up or 54” with center column down. Let me know if interested. The only issue right now is that I am on an ocean cruise returning from Hawaii and will not be home until Saturday.

I hope your cruise has gone well, with no covid, with good weather, food, service , entertainment. I have taken two Princess SF-Hawaii cruises and enjoyed them. I hope the Lahaina, Maui fire did not ruin your Maui visit. Thanks for the tripod offer. I have my own ballheads, not interested in your head/tripod combo.

I continue to look for a CF tripod, w/fliplocks, 3 leg segments,60" height ( w/ or w/o center column) , stiff enough for D810+ 400mm lens, under $200.
