My Olympus mechanical shutter is 1/8000. The electronic shutter is 1/32000.

I use both a dedicated camera and my phone to take pictures. It is nice to be able to show family members, coworkers, etc pictures from my phone gallery. The pictures are also downloaded to my Flickr and Snapfish account so I at least have that should something happen. I print from the pictures that I took from my camera.

I guess it depends on what the pictures are for. For a 4x6 or 5x7, facebook, etc you probably won't see much of a difference. 11x14 and higher you will begin to see the difference.

I use an Olympus with several stops of image stabilization. I can take a 2 second hand held image but only at 25 or less MM. Even then, you have to be really still. I would still use a tri-pod if available.

Thorium salt reactors would be a good source of power. They are safer than regular nuclear reactors since the reaction is in liquid salt and will solidify if you have a leak. The United States also has an abundance supply of Thorium compared to uranium. You also have much less nuclear waste tham a standard nuclear reactor. The technology has been around since the 50's but you can't use a Thorium reactor to produce material for nuclear weapons which was important back then. I believe China or India is revisiting Thorium reactors.

Hydro only supplies around 20% of TVA's power. The rest is mostly fossil and nuclear. The TVA dams main purpose was flood control. Generating electricity was not the main purpose. Besides, who wants to flood 40,000+ acres for a dam. I live in Northeast Tennessee and there are several lakes near me. TVA supplies my power. The lakes are beautiful, but there are better ways of generating power.

I have a Flickr account. It is very easy for someone to find your pictures. I have the (Pro) paid account. What is nice is that you can link your phone to your account and it will automatically download your pictures into a private gallery until you decide what to do with them.

Where I live, I haven't had not much problem with FedEx. Although, there have been several occasions where the date has changed. Sometimes by 2 or 3 days. I often see FedEx at the local post office dropping off packages to USPS for local delivery.

If my pictures had to be perfect, then I would never take a picture.

I guess your next class will be with DR. Dolittle so you can talk to the animals and get them to pose perfectly for you.

Their are so many pictures that are far far superior to mine out there that it would be a compliment for someone to steal mine.

Hello Hoggers,

Visiting the Finger Lakes region for the first time (staying in Watkins Glen) for 6 nights in September. I know there are a lot of wineries and breweries that I will research myself. Any must see areas for photos?
Thank you, Tony

I have been to the Finger Lakes Area several times. I stay in Hammondsport which is on Keuka Lake less than 20 miles from Watkins Glen. There are several beautiful state parks in the area. Letchworth, Buttermilk Falls, Stoney Brook are just a few. There is a county park in Naples that you walk in a glen to 2 large waterfalls. It is a beautiful place to explore.

I have never left one my pocket before. However, instead I had one go thru the chew cycle with my dog. It was not so lucky.
