I have an F5 in great condition (not sure how they rate them), if you would be interested? You won't go wrong with Nikon. I sold all my Pentax stuff a few years back and went all Nikon and never regretted it.

Just curious...what kind of Pentax gear and if I could be so bold to ask...what did you get for it and where did you sell it?

I have some OLD Pentax "stuff" that I might try to sell and was just wondering...

Been a Member for a few months now. GREAT FORUM and have learned a LOT! Yesterday I had one of those "oh ----" moments inasmuch as I downloaded the contents of my card into my laptop and not paying attention I deleted the pictures off my card using my camera. I did NOT reformat the card.

Turning around at my desk I saw that my download crashed for some reason or another. The FIRST time this has ever happened while downloading pictures IN over 7 years now!

"Holy Moly"! I've lost my pictures...like 400 of them MANY from over the Holdays! "oh ----"!!!

THEN I remembered reading in this forum about how you could "recover" such "deleted" files and long story - short - I did a search...found some advice from fellow members...downloaded a "Recovery Program" and low and behold...GOT MY PICTURES BACK!

I seriously doubt I would have known about this Recovery Issue IF I had not ran across it in this Forum and more than likely would have written-off those "lost" pictures!

I would just like to say "THANK YOU" to each and every one of you who take the time to read and write in this forum..."YOOSE ARE ALL DA BEST!"

If you have a photography related New Years Resoution, share it with the group. I have two
1. Take a picture every day
2. Learn how to use Photoshop Elements.

GOOD POST!
Now...besides the "Standard" losing weight; exercising more; and, fishing more....
1. Learn my new T3i in and out
2. I also been using Windows Movie Maker for years and just purchased Pro Show Gold to go along with my new Camera so I wanna really learn that in and out too

Of course...IF I use my new camera a lot...outdoors...while fishing...I might be able to achieve ALL the resolutions ;-)

Ya all have a SUPER New Year!

Now you have me rethinking about using huge memory cards for still pix. Thanks to all for this advice.

I like to use multiple smaller cards and did for years in a P&S. Just received a T3i for xmas and plan to continue the practice for reasons stated here in terms of losing a lot of pictures although I NEVER (thankfully) had that problem.

I'm an "Old Fart" and while I have and use computers all the time I just REFUSE to "trust" my pictures to one file source! I transfer my pictures after a shoot to the puter for editing and once done I save a set in my puter and then on an external junk drive and then on a back-up DVD and finally...yes finally...I even print hard copies. YUP! Got lots and lots of printed pictures all cataloged and stored neatly in Photo Binders.

I would have to experience a nuclear war to lose any given picture file and while what i do is probably over-kill my pictures mean too much to me.

Probably should have mentioned that I HAVE taken thousands of pictures on those cards without a card failure or lost of picture quality.

Hi,
Funny I don't remember being that good this year, but I got it anyway!!!

So any reviews/comments on the Canon Rebel EOS T3i????

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! :0)

I shot Pentax Film SLR's (several different versions) for years and years and years and somewhere along the line I received a Canon Digitial P&S that I reluctantly adopted for it's "ease" of use. After nearly 6 years of using it (and actually learning to like it especially for it's video taking ability) it finally "died".

So Mrs. "Claus" brought me a T3i "outfit" as well for Xmas after determining that the "newer" Canon "outfit" outweighed using a newer Pentax "body" with my older (MUCH OLDER) Pentax Lenses.

At first...I gave a lot of thought to returning the T3i for a Pentax Body but in all honesty I DID have such a blast with the Canon P&S and the T3i just "felt" right that I decided to keep it but alast...6 years of P&Sing and I've LOST a lot of the SLR knowledge so I feel like a "Rookie" all over again.

I've purchased a couple of books on the camera and find myself learning all over again but the BEST advice I can give ya...other than I BELIEVE you have a GREAT Camera ( AND I'm NOT knocking other Cameras with that statement!)...is to do what everybody in this forum recommends...just get out and start shooting! And shoot some more...and when your done shooting...SHOOT SOME MORE!

I "stole" and have used for a long time now a phrase I read/heard at the Kodak Exhibit at Disneyworld a million years ago..."Pictures should tell a story"....NOW GO "WRITE" VOLUMES!

Good Luck with your new "toy"

LIKE the idea for WMM! Gonna try it.

I DID wind-up opting for the Pro Show Gold Program and while I'm looking forward to using it I'm also sure I'll be using WMM while I AM learning pro Show...afterall...the "Show" must go on ;-)

Anyway..between the new slideshow maker and my new T3i I gotta lot of reading and learning to do and just "shooting".

THANKS to everybody again for all the advice

Ya all have a GREAT and SAFE Holiday Season!

Wow I just checked Epson's site. For just twice the price for 100 slides I can do it myself. Thanks alot guys.

Nikonfan70 - The scanner MT Shooter is talking about I got last year for my birthday cause I had like 7000 slides from the "old days" I wanted to convert and be able to save digitally and then produce slide shows, etc, etc, etc.

While I can't say I was "happy" about the "time" it took to scan the slides and I'm sure for bigger bucks there are faster scanners out there???...for the money I WAS satisfied!

At $.39 each you CAN justify the purchase very quickly!

The Scanner WORKS GREAT! and while I can't remember the DPI specifics I WAS very happy with the outcome.

Good luck with your project

Woodworker: Sorry I can't help ya with the DVD Playing problem. I'm on XP BUT I have had some "issues" with Movie Maker over the years and found an excellant web site where I was able to find "solutions" at:

www.windowsmoviemakers.net

I'm sure there are other sites as well but this is the one I always found helpful.

Hope it helps!

I've used Microsoft Movie Maker for a lot of years now starting very basic and expanding with each new dvd burned BUT it has it's limits and I want to start using a program where I can do more "trick stuff". Based on what I've seen here I'm really leaning towards Pro Show Gold. Actually I'm about 90% sure that IS the way I'm going. STILL I'd really appreciate hearing from any of you of your knowledge/experience with this program. No doubt there are pros and cons so PLEASE be brutally honest! REALLY enjoy this site! I READ it everyday!
