Been a Member for a few months now. GREAT FORUM and have learned a LOT! Yesterday I had one of those "oh ----" moments inasmuch as I downloaded the contents of my card into my laptop and not paying attention I deleted the pictures off my card using my camera. I did NOT reformat the card.

Turning around at my desk I saw that my download crashed for some reason or another. The FIRST time this has ever happened while downloading pictures IN over 7 years now!

"Holy Moly"! I've lost my pictures...like 400 of them MANY from over the Holdays! "oh ----"!!!

THEN I remembered reading in this forum about how you could "recover" such "deleted" files and long story - short - I did a search...found some advice from fellow members...downloaded a "Recovery Program" and low and behold...GOT MY PICTURES BACK!

I seriously doubt I would have known about this Recovery Issue IF I had not ran across it in this Forum and more than likely would have written-off those "lost" pictures!

I would just like to say "THANK YOU" to each and every one of you who take the time to read and write in this forum..."YOOSE ARE ALL DA BEST!"

A great bunch of very intelligent and expert people on this forum. Worth their weight in gold - all of them.

Glad you got your photos back. I made a similar mistake while taking pictures at a nephews wedding. Not as a professional, but they were the only pictures taken. Unfortunately I got mixed up on which memory card I had used previously and deleted all the pictures. I didn't realize what I had done until it was too late. My memory cards are all numbered now and I NEVER delete photos off of my memory card until I have them all on the computer and backed up.

Hopefully, you downloaded a program that you will never ever have to use again. :)

Are you looking to restore all the lost and deleted digital photos from or (NTFS) file system? If yes, then without giving any second thought you must take help of Kernel for Windows Data Recovery software. This utility has got the ability to perform a thorough scanning of the entire drive and restore all the lost media files without facing any difficulty.

I have to concur, hopefully that will not happen to any of us (again). I imagine it was a learning experience. As much as we all know we should "Make sure it was backed up/transferred to your computer before deleting pictures on a card", sometimes XXXX happens.

But what did you really learn from UHH? Where to get a recovery program or -

TO NEVER DELETE YOUR CARD FILES UNTIL YOU'VE ACTUALLY SEEN THEM STORED ON YOUR HARD DRIVE BY OPENING SOME AND MAKE SURE THEY'RE BACKED UP SOMEWHERE ELSE TOO? :)

Amen to that. Besides doing photos I do audio editing for my church and my practice is NEVER delete the original off the chip until I have verified that it will open on the PC, and then KEEP THE ORIGINAL, working on copies only. Working on copies only is especially important if your camera doesn't do RAW. JPEGS have limited editability. I personally convert to .PSD and do all my editing in that format leaving the JPEG's untouched.
