Thanks for the comments. I had noted the Lock but could not move it - possibly since the lens was not in the closed/18mm position
Guess it’s to a repair facility that knows moe about it than I
Thanks again

Thanks for the comments. I had checked the lock. I could not move it - possibly because it was not in the closed/18mm position. Guess it is to repair now
Thanks, again
I loaned my adult daughter myCanon EOS60D with the subject lens. Although she is not an expert photographer, she is responsible.
She returned the camera with lens back to me but advised me she has, evidently done something wrong as the lens would not go all the way in - to the 18mm position
My superficial exam didn’t reveal any obvious defects although it did not seem to operate as freely as normal, as though a brake was engaged. I have not used this camera/lens recently so have forgotten some of its details. Obviously, I don’t want to force it, but is there a “brake” on the mechanism that could be restraining the movement?
I’d appreciate any suggestions to consider before I send it for repair.
Thanks

Instructions say you have to get another app to do this. I am very certain there is a simple easy way and have tried several from UTube BUT haven’t found one that consistently works properly.
Would appreciate receiving details on how to do it.
Thanks

I’ve had Canon’s for several years - which I like. However, last winter I slipped on some ice and in try to catch myself badly tore some tendons/ligaments in my right arm My Canons including a 100-400mm lens are now too heavy to carry/use.
My wife bought me the subject camera which is MUCH lighter and - so far - appears to be a decent substitute……except it has so many software options, I am having PROBLEMS utilizing it.
I’ve downloaded the nearly 600 page manual but often can’t find the solution to my then current problem.
Does someone have recommendations on alternative learning sources?
Thanks

I have been considering upgrading from my current Canon 50D to the Canon EOS 7D Mark II. I mainly photograph landscapes and wild life. I have read that this camera is great for sports and other fast moving objects like birds.
My question is would it still be a good purchase for landscape photography.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
I added a 7D to my 60D a couple years ago and use it all the tile - while the 60D gathers dust...🙄....I take primarily landscape and bird pix although I’m not fast enough to catch the birds in flight although have gotten some eagles and other big birds with my old Canon 100-400mm zoom - which is really great with both cameras
I’ll second- or third that!!!! I had PSE 15 or so and changed to Apple and moved everything — or so I thought .... I’m still trying to find pix.
On that, not for professional use, but cleaning up and adjusting exposure and contrast and etc, what is recommended for the Mac? The Apple iPhotos is pretty lame
It’s taken me awhile to read these - been pushed on other - non photo - projects - THANKS to all who responded!! I learned some and had some thoughts confirmed
Thanks again
Yes, that is a rather nebulous subject which is why I’m asking it. To make a print of a picture that has good resolution, what size should the digital file be....say for a print that is 16” x 20”??
I’ve been taking photos - primarily as a hobby “forever”...🙄.... To date myself, the first “real” camera I had was a 4x5 Speed Graphic, with a Roliflex used on occasion. After a partial suspension of several years to earn a living and raise a family during which I took pix of family and some of fuel facilities for business records - I was working for a major oil company, I progressed through a Voightlander, a couple Fuji’s, two or three Minolta and now have a Canon 60D and a 7D MkII.
One of my grandsons graduated from MIT. (“Name dropper “🤔👎) with an advanced degree in architecture. He gave me his Canon Pro 10 saying I’d likely use it more than he. That is what prompted my question about file size...
Thanks to all
Can an Android phone access iCloud? If so, that would be the easiest way to go from her phone to iCloud to your phone. You’d need a minimum iCloud account which is only $0.99 per month and you could move photos both ways
