I’ve had Canon’s for several years - which I like. However, last winter I slipped on some ice and in try to catch myself badly tore some tendons/ligaments in my right arm My Canons including a 100-400mm lens are now too heavy to carry/use.
My wife bought me the subject camera which is MUCH lighter and - so far - appears to be a decent substitute……except it has so many software options, I am having PROBLEMS utilizing it.
I’ve downloaded the nearly 600 page manual but often can’t find the solution to my then current problem.
Does someone have recommendations on alternative learning sources?
Thanks
Sony manuals are a miserable joke. Just use the camera and ask questions for help. You'll figure it out.
I learned more from u tube videos in regards to this remarkable camera. TrySony RX10 MK4 WALKTHROUGH BY SHUTTERBUG 101. Start and stop it a lot and do it several times. Alexander White’s “Getting the Most from your Sony Rx10 m4 “ book is helpful. My Canons are much easier to use, but, the RX10 mk4 is sure easy to grab for photos of opportunity.

Rather than trying to learn everything about the camera, you may want to "focus" on two main things - autofocus modes and exposure modes.

As a rule I don't go for the latest, greatest thing - but with this camera I decided to break that rule.

Creativelive.com has an instructor that does instruction videos on cameras. I bought the videos for the cameras I own and found them very helpful. For questions difficult to find the answer to I call the help line to the camera manufacturer.
I found two books to be very helpful:
“Photographer’s Guide to the Sony DCS RX 10 IV,” Alexander White, and
“The Friedman Archive Guide to Sony’s RX-10,” Gary L. Friedman.
Yes!! I think you will be very pleased with any Camera Manual authored by Alexander White. I have them for all my Nikons.

I just bought the same camera and so far, love it. A friend helped me set up the menu and so far no real problems.
There is a manual written by Wim Arys that is pretty good. I am on my iPad now and don’t know how to attach the link. I will post it if I can figure it out. You have an excellent camera.
Perhaps if you ask specific questions one of our experts can answer it.

My wife has one. She is not a deep diver into menus and 600 page instruction books.
Her solution? There is one menu choice that will reset the camera to the shipped defaults. It works! Then, she uses the green "AUTO" setting a lot. It works, very well! Sony's programmers and engineers have put a lot into "AUTO".
I brought mine 3 years ago, and love it. Yest, the learning curve is steep, but don't try to eat the elephant all at once!
I have Friedman's manual. It is long, but very comprehensive. I recommend it highly. So many things you can do wit this camera. A dedicated flash is recommended.
Good luck.
I have the this book. Helped me setup the cameras' menu and explained how each on of the menu settings works. This book is The Friedman Archives Guide to Sony's RX-10 IV is a thick 600 page book. It is a little dry at times when he is explaining different things but it is quite interesting.

But still, $1,700 for auto?

I second both of these. Very good camera manuals by these guys!
