I have never used a Mac, always Windows based. If I chose to switch to Mac how difficult is this? What could I expect and do I get anything better by doing so? Thanks.

I switched from Windows based PCs to a MacBook Pro 5 years ago and I have no regrets. There is a bit of a learning curve but nothing that isn't too daunting if you are open minded and patient.

"do I anything get better by doing so?" -- in my opinion: everything is better. The display is crisper, the performance is better, the speed is better, and none of those Window update issues. Everything just works seamlessly. Especially if you have an Iphone and Ipad, they all share with little of no effort on your part.

The only down side is they are definitely more expensive.

Are any of your contemplating the addition of Luminar 4 to your toolkits? I ask, because Luminar 3 was a disaster, and I'm wondering if Skylum has lost its cred?

I'm on the fence. I, too, had problems with Luminar 3 but it may have been my 5 year old Mac with diminishing disk space that was the problem. I have a new one now and so far Luminar 3 has been working Ok but I haven't really put it through its paces yet. With all of that being said I have to admit the new features being touted in Luminar 4 leave me feeling lukewarm at best. Sky replacement -- not my thing. Portrait Enhancer - not interested, AI Structure -- nice but I don't think I'll use it much; new GUI -- just another learning curve to go through.

I agree with the previous post. It looks like it is over sharpened.

Clearly not funny and honestly just stupid.

Literally, you are correct.
However, the expectation when you go to this show, is that the manufacturer; will send you to one of their vendors for the best current deal for the product, or sell you the product at a reduced 'show special' price. This is the case for over 90% of the products available to purchase at the show.

One of my mottos: expect nothing and you are rarely disappointed.

I was at NYC Photo Expo today and stopped by the WD booth to look at the new SanDisk 2TB external SSD; and also looked at G Technology 2TB Mobile SSD. The sales person, who happens to be the Northeastern Rep, told me the drive was $349. I asked for show special pricing and he said that this was the best they were doing and the 'same' as online. I passed.
I just checked the reviews and pricing. Boy was I surprised to see that this drive is selling for $299 everywhere..including B+H that had it in their 'Show Special' guide. And....guess what? It is also listed in WD online store for $299.

Am I wrong to be pissed off about this? How about the people who actually buy it at the show for $349?
WD-G Tech has lost a customer as a result of this scam.

I'm not sure being pissed off is the right reaction. This is simply a business transaction. The rep made an offer, you passed on it and found a better deal. Shopping around was the correct reaction. Smart move.

A lot of suggestions are made to check your LCD screen before actually taking the picture. I’m outdoors a lot and find that I can’t see the screen due to the glare. Any suggestions?

As I shoot 95% of my shots in manual mode (99 % of these are landscape shots by the way and not anything in motion), I always use the LCD to check the histogram for exposing to the right. I never blow out highlights and anything in shadows can usually be restored in post processing with little or no noise.

Thank you for contributing. Unfortunately, and this is only from my own selfish POV, I plan/want to employ Luminar in a freestanding mode, NOT as a plug-in for some other program that requires me to pay an [insidious] monthly subscription fee.

You don’t have to use Luminar Flex as a plug-in, it’s the same as Luminar 3 just without the DAM.

Thank you, cameraf4, for creating this Topic. I bought their Luminar program to eventually do some post-processing of my multispectral photographs, but haven’t used it yet.

I’m looking forward to what other members have to express in terms of likes, dislikes, problems, and workaround solutions with respect to Luminar.

I’ve been using Luminar for about 3 years now and quite found of it. That being said Luminar 3 has been a regular crashing nightmare for me. However, Luminar Flex is rock solid.

Okay. I get how the MacOS is indispensable to YOU. That doesn't make it the only thing that would do the job for many others, as some would like to believe. And it doesn't lessen how Windows is indispensable to some and does everything most of us users would ever need.

It's just real stupid that lots of folks who prefer one of them, for whatever reasons, have to ridicule the other or perpetuate fear of using the other.
I was witness to this in my years of supporting Macs and PCs in a school district.

And it's too bad that Apple does not allow MacOS to be run on non-Apple hardware (except by adventurous hackers). That's corporate insecurity for you.

I was with you until you said ice hockey! Just watch the Stanley Cup finals one year - about 6 games

be time well spent. Fair warning - after going that, football will become very boring!

Rollins had a very varied and fascinating life. For two years he practiced on the walkway of the Manhattan, Williamsburg Bridge to escape the sounds of a young child crying in his apartment building. For more of his life:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Rollins

I've tried on more than one occasion to appreciate this type of music and I just don't get it. I'm not going to denigrate the musicians who are masters of their craft or those that like this type of music but it has no appeal to me. Kind of like scotch or any whisky for that matter, paintings by Jackson Pollack, and ice hockey.

For all those who like this type of jazz, whisky, and the other two I say the more power to you.
