I would just like to give a shout-out to the Skylum folks. Many Hogs have mentioned Aurora or Luminar which I have found to be useful programs. Lately I have started using LuminarFlex and Photolemur as well. In spite of the advanced metering systems in todays cameras sometimes my images just don't cut it. I can take those images into one of these 4 programs and, more often than not, "save the day" with an image I like. Just wanted to pass-that-along.

Agree, I use Photolemur 3 on many images, and it often does a great job!

Thank you, cameraf4, for creating this Topic. I bought their Luminar program to eventually do some post-processing of my multispectral photographs, but haven’t used it yet.

I’m looking forward to what other members have to express in terms of likes, dislikes, problems, and workaround solutions with respect to Luminar.

I’ve been using Luminar for about 3 years now and quite found of it. That being said Luminar 3 has been a regular crashing nightmare for me. However, Luminar Flex is rock solid.

Thank you for contributing. Unfortunately, and this is only from my own selfish POV, I plan/want to employ Luminar in a freestanding mode, NOT as a plug-in for some other program that requires me to pay an [insidious] monthly subscription fee.

You don’t have to use Luminar Flex as a plug-in, it’s the same as Luminar 3 just without the DAM.

Oh! .... Thank you. I didn’t know that.

I tried to "upgrade/change" from Luminar 2018 to Luminar 3. But my PC lacked some sort of internal hardware and it would not boot up. Tried LuminarFlex and all is well. Also, have found the "help techs" at Skylum to be most helpful when I have needed them.

I think companies that charge small nominal fees are of the impression; you don't work for free why should they.

Luminar 4 is coming out soon. The sky replacement feature is awesome, as is the portrait feature.

I have a code, pm me if interested.

I’ve been using Luminar for a while now, as a plug-in to Lightroom. First, just to tweak some things, but now I find myself using only the Lightroom catalog feature and going to Luminar for most of my processing. I’m ready to get my hands on the new one--I’ve heard some really good things about it.

I like the AI function of Luminar and hope it stretches out of adolescence soon. I'm quite disappointed that there is to be no .cr3 in the upcoming release of Luminar 4. Promises, promises, and no .cr3 yet!

I've pretty much abandoned the idea of using Luminar as my program of choice instead of LR and focusing on learning ON 1. On 1 has tons of training videos. I hope this is a winner.

I very much agree, Roni. It is so disappointing to travel 100s/1000s of miles to a special location and find that the skies are a dud. Now I'm kinda sorry that I "trashed" so many of my images because of Yucky Skies.

I’ve used Luminar 2018, Luminar 3, and now I’m currently using the beta version of Luminar 4. Just love it. The AI Sky Replacement is awesome, as is the new AI portrait filter. I also find the Skylum tech support folks to be very responsive.

When I started using Luminar 2018, it ran very slow on my 5 year old laptop. I wound up adding more memory and swapping out my system HDD for a SSD. That solved the problem.

I recently went on a Photowalk in San Francisco with one of Skylum’s execs. He told me they’ve done 3 million downloads of Luminar to their customers. I personally think Luminar is just about everything I could want in post processing software.

Oh, I most certainly agree with the concept of Capitalism! I just find, at least on the surface, that a flat, outright purchase of software may only cost, as in the case of Luminar versus Lightroom, about six months' worth of your so-called "nominal" fee and then the rest is "gravy/nada/zip." It’s a matter of price, nothing more.
