I’ve used Luminar 2018, Luminar 3, and now I’m currently using the beta version of Luminar 4. Just love it. The AI Sky Replacement is awesome, as is the new AI portrait filter. I also find the Skylum tech support folks to be very responsive.

When I started using Luminar 2018, it ran very slow on my 5 year old laptop. I wound up adding more memory and swapping out my system HDD for a SSD. That solved the problem.

I recently went on a Photowalk in San Francisco with one of Skylum’s execs. He told me they’ve done 3 million downloads of Luminar to their customers. I personally think Luminar is just about everything I could want in post processing software.

Forgot to mention. FYI Luminar 4 will be available for download on November 18, and a week earlier for pre-orders.

Thank you for contributing. Unfortunately, and this is only from my own selfish POV, I plan/want to employ Luminar in a freestanding mode, NOT as a plug-in for some other program that requires me to pay an [insidious] monthly subscription fee.

I fail to see how “insidious” applies here. You may not want to pay a moderate monthly fee for use of a suite of products that used to cost hundreds of dollars, a fee that many on here think is fair, but insidious doesn’t make sense in this context.

Hey, SuperflyTNT, I realize that we're having a small, but certainly polite, tangential discussion here. My use of the term "insidious" belies my dislike of subscription fees. They all add up! It's merely a budgetary philosophy and concern of mine.

Since I'm participating on this forum, renowned for people expressing opinions (typically far more controversial than what I expressed here,) my term most certainly does make sense "here". Your context might be limited to this Topic; as for expressing simultaneously my opinion as regarding subscription fees, my context is UHH.com, as I joined it a few years ago. I have indeed, over the years, read topics containing opinions, daresay I, that lamented the exact same concept.

Should you not be intellectually satisfied with my reply, please feel free to PM me. I don't think that cameraf4 or the readership would enjoy our inadvertently hijacking the topic.

Oh, I most certainly agree with the concept of Capitalism! I just find, at least on the surface, that a flat, outright purchase of software may only cost, as in the case of Luminar versus Lightroom, about six months' worth of your so-called "nominal" fee and then the rest is "gravy/nada/zip." It’s a matter of price, nothing more.

Gravy is good. Love gravy.

Do you actually know the definition of “insidious”?

What do you think?
Now it appears that you’re merely trying to bait me.
Tell us, please, is this last post of yours something that contributes to the posted topic?
If not, didn’t I already give you a means to discuss this matter with me privately?
But if so, please go justify yourself!
Regardless, I’m not going to bother responding to this here.
