I haven't been feeling well for quite awhile now so went to the doctor the first thing this morning. They put me in a little room and checked my temperature, blood pressure, oxygen level etc and then told me to sit down and shut up and the doctor would be with me shortly. By the time I was half done reading a three year old copy of People magazine the doctor came in. He took one look at me, shook his head sadly and said, "Why do you people always wait til the last minute?

I can offer this. Trust in yourself and take head of their own statement, "Physician heal thy self". No, first part, if you quoted the doctor correctly, I would have smiled, stood up, quoted the above and looked sad the instructed the doc. that he had just violated his oat of Hippocrates, that is "Do no harm". This person posing as a physician is not one, he is a mere doctor, a mechanic, he does harm.

You will need to find a physician, not a doctor. I have a condition called venous insufficiency as it is diagnosed. I have no dough that it is true. My problem is that why did it take some 30 years to be told this? So now I am much like the philosopher Soren Kierkegaard in my view f the men of medicine, that is 'armed neutrality.

So search for a physician and keep your wits about you. Take wise console with that physician, they are difficult to locate but when you do have them work with you, BUT remember it is a two way street AND it's your body, you are responsible for it not the physician.

One last thing, it is a bit of advice, if you have been told it is cancer, your in luck. Ignore the doctor, but scare the crap out of him. Contact by e-mail The University of Texas MD Anderson Hospital. Know that YOU can, you do not need a doctor to contact Anderson Hospital, they will respond. They will take your diagnosis and contact your doctor. They will then take over your case and ignore all but Anderson. Why? Because it is what they are, they are the cancer epi center for all cancer.

Here is just one brilliant maneuver they arrived at, brain cancer. No surgery, no chemo, no radiation. Most brain cancer is now being treated with polio. You see, polio introduced to the cranium can not escape that location into the rest of the body. Polio will not share the brain with cancer, it destroys it, it is not a nice play friend to cancer. It is not ALL brain cancers but a lot of the brain cancer des fall under this heading.

Liver cancer is deadly, the people at Anderson embrace the new technologies and the fact that some cancers will kill you, yes, but they can set it up so it will take years, like 20 or 30. A probe is put into the abdomen and is positioned at the growing mass, a four prong tiny set of wire deploy and POP! tumor is fried with a micro burst of micro waves. The incision needed is less than 1/8 inch and you need no anesthesia but for the tiny surface incision.

MD Anderson is in Houston Texas but has location all around the US and the free world.

Because the onset is gradual and not really noticed immediately???
Some people don't go to the doctor for every little ache or pain?

Last minute for what?

Totally....

Some DO get surprise diagnoses of cancer.
For some it may be early enough.
Others, .....

I have a family member who told me of his life in the gay community, the sense of deep loose with friends who died of AIDS. AS I got older I saw family members (Mother, Sister and Brother) and close friends die because they did not want to deal with the big 'C'. But I have had the good fortune of helping some to deal with and go seek help from Anderson Hospital. I'm close to this place having spent 8 years working as a photographer with the hospital. It is a truly wonderful caring place filled with lots of good people, not just doctors and researchers. Let them do their magic!

You're breaking my heart. Your inherent lack of insight, imagination, and humor are not my problem. Live with it.
Is name calling part of your usual repertoire, timmy?

Some doctors simply hate the patients
that come shortly before their shift is over.
You should be worried with the bill.

I agree with you and have contacted MD Anderson after my wife’s diagnosis. They told me the treatment options her Dr were recommending were right on and don’t deviate. She didn’t and is still here 10 years later.
Mind you... this is her 2nd time around with it too

That required some thought, but still...

Seriously, on the other hand, I've heard of doctors who got annoyed because people "wasted their time" with something trivial.

Reread it. The doctor commented on him coming in at the last minute just after the patient finished reading a 3-yr old magazine!
