The "shadow of the bird" is distorted/incomplete in first picture, but is rather well defined in other three shots. It was/is a good geographic reference for me.

The stripes on the flower fooled me. Nice.

Nice, I like the top of the wing reflection more than the physical.

I found your post about 4 hours late. Just finished cooking and eating a tasty but tough pork loin.

Thanks for bringing hope to non-slender folk - like me. I thought of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville Arkansas when I saw your photographs. They allowed flashless pictures the last time I visited. There is a portrait gallery, and several other galleries, through and including modern art. Crystal Bridges opened November 11th 2011 at 11am (their restaurant is named Eleven).

Your Wall Mart purchases paid for the museum, and the entry fee, so you might as well enjoy it. You do have to pay your own transportation costs. Northwest Arkansas is always beautiful, but also colorful in the fall (late October+-.) Bentonville is an easy day trip from Branson, Missouri., if you happen to be going there. If you go don't miss the Sam Walton/Wall Mart museum and ice cream parlor on the Bentonville town square.

Two mornings ago I was sitting on my patio drinking my first cup of coffee. I noticed color about 15" above ground in the bottom of an old oleander. As I thought and wondered what type of flower it might be, not remembering having any near that spot, I planned to walk over to see it when I went back inside. Then it moved, flying to a nearby open grass area. It was a bird not a flower - a very mature and very red male cardinal. As I looked at your picture, I imagined he must have looked like your friend when he was young. Thanks.

No experience, but I would think that any device with a solar collector, and with the correct output strength and physical connector should work. I suggest buy one and test it before you go. (Also, what is a gers?)

Nice. I think in the first shot he/she was picking the seed it wanted to eat next (like I do with a can of mixed nuts).

I was fascinated by the long row of remotely operated cameras on the floor at the Final Four College Basketball finals in San antonio. I think I saw one smart phone, or possibly it was that newish multi-lens/multi-function small camera. Anybody have a picture of those cameras?
