Longshadow,

What did you do back in film days? Serious question - did you just send film off to the lab?

Andy

Yep, I just sent it off to the lab.

I occasionally crop and even less contrast and/or brightness adjustment. I use whatever came with the computer.

The news stories I've been hearing is that Harley is moving only the EU assembly to EU to avoid the EU tariffs. I figure that means the U.S. assembly will remain in the U.S. to avoid the U.S. import tariffs.

I've been having fun (sarcasm) trying to solve the problem with my evap system on my pickup. I was down to the wire because my registration expired at the end of this month and it would not pass DEQ with the service engine light on. I cleared the code, there's no pattern to when it will come back on, and Friday morning headed to the test station. Even with waiting in line it cleared with no issues and I got it registered. Phew! Today on my way home from work the service engine light came on again. Yep, the same error. Well, at least now I have 2 years to solve it instead of 2 weeks.

I’m in a quandary. I would like to do street photography using folks in random shots taken at a distance (or closer). I’ve been told that all persons photographed should give their permission; others say snap away. I have a feeling I’m going to get in huge difficulties pursuing this genre of photography either way, and that’s not my intention. I just want some spontaneous, unposed images. Maybe some of you more people skilled folks can help. I’m getting nowhere.

Contact a lawyer for the city or state or country you wish to shoot in. Usually consult fees are minimal and will save you much hassles later down the road.

Chaostain, this is a wonderful article. Thank you for sharing it. I love trains and might plan to go see this behemoth on the rails. When I first saw your title, I was thinking of the restaurant chain.

You're welcome. I too love trains, both real and model. That's my other main hobby. We're in the very first stages of building a model railroad. I spotted this on the model railroad forum and thought it would be a wonderful photo opportunity.

I should have numbered my socks and undies so they would wear out evenly.

I actually did that for my uniforms.

It's beginning to look like the weird ones are the ones that don't do this.

I've done a little research on rechargeable batteries and they say the best way to extend the life of the battery is to use it. You don't want to completely drain it and you don't want to keep it charged to capacity all the time, both will ruin the battery. That being said rotating the batteries makes perfect sense, especially if you have several so one doesn't get left out of being used and thus fail when you really need it.

I don't know about memory cards though. And since I currently have only one each mine get well exercised.

I had the pleasure of getting up close and in the cab of the newly-restored Bicentennial Freedom Train locomotive, the old Southern Pacific Daylight #4449 (which I believe is still operating in excursion service today), when it passed through the Chicago & Northwestern's Proviso yards in early 1975; I was a road brakeman operating between there and Clinton, Iowa at the time. I took a few snapshots but they're long lost...

Yep, the #4449 is still in service. It's owned by the city of Portland, Oregon, or at least it was the last I heard. It's kept at the Brooklyn roundhouse along with another steamer, the #700, and a few diesel electric classics.

Oh yeah, there is a train section. I didn't see it my first time looking. Plus somebody already beat me to it. I guess admin can just delete if they so desire as far as I'm concerned.
